I have owned the "Corsair VIRTUOSO RGB Wireless SE Espresso" headset for a little under two years and I really like the audio quality and mic.
Battery life has always been pretty terrible for me, like it wont charge fully always. Also after two years the faux leather has totally disentegrated because of an unusually hot and sweaty summer, but apart from that its the best headset I have tried.
I am wondering if the XT holds up better over the years? Are they made of the same material as the SE Expresso version?
Can long time owners pitch in with their experience?

Hey Folks, I recently acquired a set of virtuoso XTs, and have a couple questions for the community here. These questions are directed to individuals who have actually purchased and used these headsets for an extended period of time.
I am currently trying to decide between the virtuosos and razor Kraken V3 pros. They both have pros and cons. Battery life is not really my concern as the virtuosos have plenty of battery life for my needs. I have found the Kraken to have higher fidelity sound and comfort but they are a bit buggy.
Long term wise, how have your XTs held up?
Thank you for the discussion.
Needed to vent.
I had a pair of the pearl colored standard virtuosos for a long time, absolutely adored them, microphone quality and audio quality were fantastic and when they started having issues due to age and wear/tear a little while back, I was genuinely upset bc I didn't want to replace them since they'd worked so well and it was hard to find good white headsets that didn't get dingy and gross immediately, which the virtuoso had handled really well over long term heavy use.
I bite the bullet, spring for the Virtuoso XTs, the slate ones, since I figure it'll be same or better performance given they're the same product line but the XT is a newer, higher grade version. Turns out that's incredibly wrong.
Audio quality is much lower quality, has a faint echo and volumes are inconsistent across multiple apps (some games are just inexplicably quieter despite volume mixer and ingame audio not reflecting that, while other apps like discord are ear-shatteringly loud unless my system volume is set way lower than the other pair had it at)
Microphone is complete crap and sounds like I'm talking through my fist. I literally pulled the old mic of my old pair and had to use it because i'm so used to it that the drop in quality with the new pair was jarring
All of the settings I got used to being able to tweak in iCue are now gutted and have to go through the dolby atmos app which is unclear to use and doesn't seem to have a noticeable benefit compared to just letting me adjust things myself in iCue.
I'm just incredibly irritated and disappointed because I like the Corsair brand; most of my entire setup is corsair, and it's largely because I never had any quality issues and enjoyed having everything run through the single iCue app instead of having multiple management apps for different brands, but it looks like I'm going to have to change that because the XTs are $60 more than the standard and have nothing but a drop in performance. I don't want to even get a new set of the standards because I've got no way to know if their quality has dropped proportionally as well, or if they'd be like the older pair I had. It's just such a goddamn shame.
So I'm deciding between the headphones in the title and the Razer Blackshark v2 pro. I was leaning more toward the black shark v2 pro, but on a headphone advice sub people said that razer headphones are overpriced and aren't that good, but there are great youtube reviews on it, so I'm kinda confused now. BUT ANYWAY, the razer ones don't have Bluetooth and the corsair virtuoso does so I'm more leaning toward that. But are they good(I'm getting the XT because the SE doesn't have Bluetooth btw)? I think so but I'm not exactly sure can somebody confirm?
I use my headset wireless about 98% of the time, so you might have a different experience while plugged in...
The hardware itself is very nice, looks good, comfortable to wear for a long time, and my discord friends say my mic sounds much better than my Logitech g935.
When I turn on my PC, iCue software shows a red ! on the wireless receiver & shows ? for driver version. I need to unplug the receiver from the USB port on my computer and replug it in order for it to properly read the driver. I do not want to use the spatial sound, I set up my own personal EQ in iCue that I prefer to use. Because I unplug & replug the receiver, it re enables spatial sound which I then have to turn off manually. At this point, I have to either close & reopen apps that use audio, refresh webpages that I have streams on, or switch the headset to wired then back to wireless for it to begin working properly. My friends in discord laugh at me for paying $270 and having to do this every time my PC restarts :)
Before owning this headset I used the Logitech g935. I am able to get significantly more distance with the g935 than with my new Corsair XT. With my Corsair, I walk out of my bedroom across the hallway and into my kitchen. As soon as I turn right into the kitchen and move from the doorway to having a wall next to me the signal cuts immediately and just constantly beeps. With my Logitech g935 (and even older 930 & 933) I am able to continue walking thru my kitchen and sometimes even go onto my back patio before losing signal. This might not be a big deal for some people, but with my Logitech I am able to continue talking in discord while grabbing a drink or listening to music while making food, doing dishes, etc. which is nice.
TL DR : Good hardware, bad software, bad wireless distance (for my situation at least)
Hey guys,
I want to buy a new wireless gaming headset, I have seen the Virtuoso XT for 200€ should I get it ?
I have looked at the specs (24 bits/96 kHz audio, Dolby Atmos, nice mic) it seems to be a good headset. But some of the reviews on reddit says that it doesn't sound good so I don't know if I should take it.
Do you guys have another headset to advice ? My budget is around 200 ~ 250€ ? I'm looking for a wireless headset for gaming, listening music and watch movies. I play on PC and sometimes on PS4 and PS5 and Nintendo Switch if it has Bluetooth it would be great but if not it is ok
I've been looking to up my game a bit (currently own SHP9500's) and even posted here and on another sub before looking for recommendations.
Stumbled across em and I've seen rave reviews everywhere. Seems they have a much cleaner and accurate sound signature vs a typical "gamer" headset, even their own previous versions (Virtuoso SE, etc). Can connect em via USB-C for hi res audio, wireless via the dongle on PC (also comes with Dolby Atmos), or even Bluetooth with aptX HD. I do game quite a bit so that's another reason why I've been considering them. The wireless capabilities make things much easier (and cleaner for my desk).
I know wireless headsets are usually frowned upon, especially from the gamer companies, but this one seems to be a step in the direction almost...
Hello,
In the last recent days, I have been looking for a new pair of headset, that will be for gaming.
I have saw some videos here and there and found the corsair virtuoso xt. I tried to do a research about them and they look very great, at least on the paper.
So i want to ask what do you think about the virtuoso xt? are they as great as they showed and worth getting?
do you have any other suggestion for a better wireless headset?
Also, I saw that the virtuoso can be connected using the slipstream usb and also that the slipstream can handle 3 devices at the same time.
Is it possible to connect both the virtuoso xt and another corsair mouse (specific IRONCLAW wireless), using the slipstream coming with the virtuoso xt?
maybe it will be good to say that i have another corsair products like k95 and ironclaw wireless mouse.
Can’t answer all your questions but I have them and like them.
They were my first choice because they offered a wide range of compatibility with consoles, PC, and other devices. Also uses USB-C for easy charging and connections. I like the professional non-gamer look. I like how I can detach the mic if I don’t plan on voice chat.
No complaints and glad I have them. Used them quite a bit with both my PC and PS5. If I had to nitpick is that they stay on when plugged in for charging but not a huge deal.
I have the virtuoso SE and I really like them. The stock ear pads were super uncomfortable so I bought some replacements from wicked cushions and they're amazing now.
For context, I currently have a Corsair Void Elite Wireless. It's held up well but I've had it for three years so I think it's time to move on. I'm looking at both the Virtuoso XT and SE and wanted to get some opinions on them. Thanks!
Also, if it matters, I'd mostly use it through the wireless dongle with my PC, occasionally switching to Bluetooth for use with my Mac. I'm frequently on Discord calls with friends, the occasional meeting, and listening to music/podcasts/YouTube videos. I play shooter games so it's helpful to hear which direction footsteps are coming from. I look forward to hearing your thoughts!
These have to be the WORST headphones I have ever seen released. “Premium” my butt. Literally any headphone is better than these I’m so angry rn just venting on Reddit
i bough one of those for 265 , got it for like 6 months now
however the top part' leather has started wearing off by now , for the price this is unacceptable.
now corsair support has asked me to go through an entire process of rma-ing which is also unacceptable. im sorry but for the price i paid you should replace it for free.
The RMA process is standard across every company. The exception being brick and motor stores that have generious return policies. The RMA is to insure they are helping people who purchased the product and they can't just trust the person's word that they bought one.
Though, I will agree that it shouldn't fall apart like this. Most leather on items is artificial, my old bose headsets ($300+) also had this issue. Do you wear any hair products that might have caused premature wear?
Yeah I also bought the virtuoso and the pleather just disintegrated and the earcups fell off. Totally garbage build considering it was 200+ dollars. I switched back to Steelseries after that and haven't had any issues.
Been using my reliable Sony XM3s, which are light and sit incredibly comfortably on my ears. I can wear them all day without any real discomfort. Just bought the Virtuoso XT because of the mic, sound is reasonable (not close to Sony sadly) and I wanted both wireless and BT. Problem is the earcups are not comfortable. They're shallow and inside, it's a hard wall, which rubs against my ear, whereas the Sony have a softer foam layer and they cradle my ears. Anyone have ideas / knows of aftermarket earcups that might add more padding? I didn't think my ears stuck out that much, but I guess...
i've got the same , i buy this earcups : https://www.amazon.com/Earpads-Compatible-Virtuoso-Wireless-Headset/dp/B08HYL7RB1/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=Earpads+Compatible+with+Virtuoso+RGB+Wireless+SE+Gaming+Headset&qid=1626517605&sr=8-1 ,he dont rubs anymore against my ear
edit: dont worry it work with the xt
I’ve had the original Virtuoso, now I have the XT. I’ve never had an issue with degradation. The top of my head hurt with the original, not as much with the XT
I tried the regular ones a few years ago and they were very uncomfortable for me and hurt my ears and head. Does the XT change anything as far as comfort wise and do they sound anything different vs the se and non se?
Kinda hope there isn't a big difference. Literally just bought the previous SE gunmetal edition.
I just bought the SE version, mostly because of the nicer look of it and RGB. Not sure that there is a big difference other than materials and larger mic (which review say are worse than the standard edition)
I find them comfortable, although a bit heavy. Will keep them for sure and audio is excellent.
