I am thinking about getting a new iPad because my current one is getting a little dated. I saw that Costco has an Apple trade-in program to apply a credit towards the purchase of a new product. Has anyone done this? I am just curious if you think it’s worth it or if it’s any better than just doing a trade-in through Apple. They’re offering me a $150 trade-in credit for an iPad 8th gen (2020).
On the Apple website you can trade in your old products for credit towards a new product. Does that still apply if you purchase a laptop through Costco? Is there anyway to get credit for an old laptop when purchasing new laptops via Costco?
Wanting to do this trade-in with Costco instead of Apple because Costco has better deals on the MacBook I want. I know Apple trade in is more, but the MacBook is so much cheaper at Costco that the net savings is greater this way. Never even heard of Phobio and Costco's trade-in so just looking for experiences.
Is it better to use Costco's Phobio to "Trade in your Apple Device" for my 13" 2013 MacBook Air?

Or is it better to
(a) trade-in directly with Apple? OR
(b) sell my laptop separately to some third party (Craiglist or Facebook or eBay, etc.).
In other words which option is more likely to get me most money for it?
(Without the risk that seems to be with Phobio - I saw a horror story of someone whose computer was damaged by Phobio and he got nothing.)
Well, why not just go through the process of trying both and see who will give you more money...?
I would just compare and see what works. I always check Swappa / EBay to see what the recent sale prices were. And then you weigh that vs the convenience of trading it with Apple or Costco directly.
