I updated the system software on my 6 mo. old Series 6 AppleWatch today, and it came up as an AppleWatch Series 4! (I didn't get AppleCare, so I had no reason to search serial number or find out this info til today.) We purchased it at Costco SIX MONTHS AGO - in May 2021, which is outside the window of 90 days. It looked COMPLETELY brand spanking new, and while I threw away the box a month ago, I still have the band box - which says AppleWatch 6 on it. (No serial number on the box) I am shocked that this slipped by them. The original sales receipt does not have a serial number on it, and I never would have reason to question that this was a Series 4.
Costco doesn't even sell the Series 4 online or in the store (unless it's to me!!) I can't figure out what happened. Someone did a switch and returned a Series 4? But it would have had to match serial numbers upon return, right? Or no. I have no idea how this happened, but it looks like I have no recourse. Bummer.
An Apple Watch Series 4 doesn’t have an always on screen. You somehow didn’t notice that a main feature of the watch introduced back on the Series 5 wasn’t present? You also missed that it didn’t have Blood Oxygen level tracking either…?
You should take your watch and your receipt to an Apple store to see what they can do to investigate. Costco can’t do anything with a serial number but Apple can do extensive research and maybe help somehow.
I had an iPhone break that was covered by AppleCare and when I went to make a claim they said it the AppleCare had been refunded. They ran the serial number and after about 15 minutes they discovered the refunded AppleCare was in another country and done by mistake since they had my device right in front of them.
Apple can look at the history of your serial number so they may be able to figure out where the problem occurred.
There is a $90 off on series 10 (gps + cellular) plus a 90 day return window at Costco (US) - Online only offer. While the color/band choices are limited, they have what I need. Any downside in buying from Costco? Are the products legit or may be imported from a different country or something? Is it going to be a hassle later in case of any issues compared to buying from Apple store ?
Edit : Since all the replies so far has been negative and expressing concern that this could be rage bait and that I am not a Costco member etc, I just wanted to clarify why I asked the question. I am a Costco member, but very inexperienced with buying electronics there. I did a google search on why the price could be lower at Costco and google AI said there could be risk of product being illegitimate as a downside.
Plus, my own experience of seeing posts in the past about inferior products like expensive fragrances from Costco and people complaining of it being fake etc. You can see some of this in the product reviews in Costco website as well. I do not know if any of that is true. I personally don’t think it could be true. But as I am unsure, I asked here.
My post was no way against Costco or to say something bad about Costco. Based on the above, it was a genuine question to see if there really is any downside versus buying directly from Apple. I thought people with more experience may know and be helpful.
Thanks everyone for the time and please don’t see this as a negative question and hate on me for asking.
My local Costco has a sale and star of death on all their Apple Watches with the exception of the SE. No longer stocking Apple Watches? / you would think this would happen closer to refresh time.
I am looking to buy an Apple Watch Series 9, but the warehouse price is considerably cheaper than online. My only question is what their inventory looks like as I want a specific size and watchband. Anyone know if they typically have all the options listed online?
I was going for it mostly for more battery but the costco deal value seems insane, wondering your guys opinion? thanks!
Seems like it may be in warehouse only. Probably should act fast. I snagged a black one this morning.
