Not sure if I should ask this question here or in a computer sub… I’m looking at purchasing a new laptop and Costco has a great deal on this HP Pavilion right now. However, it lists the processor as “Intel Core 7.” I’ve only ever heard of Intel Core i7… does anyone know of this is a typo, or is there really a difference??

Browsing, video and photo viewing doesn't require much unless you are using this laptop outside or in really bright locations due to the dim brightness of the screen.

If this is the HP 14-ep0145cl, we have a small number of clients on this model. They find the build quality okay, but also find that it runs extremely hot for a U series laptop. For a 15 watt processor, it has a 55 watts mode it uses to "get things done", which makes it hot. You can adjust or shut off the Turbo Power, but our clients tell us the laptop barely functions at that point. Also, Turbo Power tends to affect the battery performance, with less than 5 hours, less than 4 hours in some cases, from the 41Wh. Our personal take. This laptop only hit the market 2 months ago. We think it's on sale with such a discount, because Costco realizes it's problematic, and it's under contract. As an example, more of our customers are buying this model from Costco Lenovo Flex 5 14" 2-in-1 2.2K 2240 x 1400 Touchscreen - Ryzen 7 5700U APU, Zen 2 8-Core/16-Thread CPU w/ Radeon RX Vega 8 iGPU - 16GB LPDDR4x4266MHz - 512GB Gen4x4 NVMe SSD - Windows 11 - 82R9000KUS Has a processor that stays at 15 watts, yet has higher performance at the wattage. Better graphics, better battery life, more memory, a better screen, another small details. This one is on sale because it's being phased out for its replacement, which has a new processor. It does have a smaller SSD, but these days those can be upgraded "on the cheap", when needed later. MaxProAndU Team

It's a decent PC for home use, but you could find something notably better graphics wise for $100-200 more. The extra money would get you a better graphics card and definitely better RAM and storage. I would probably stay away from a SATA hard drive as your main storage for speed purposes. I would want a system with at least a 1TB SSD drive, as they are relatively inexpensive.
