March 31, 2006 - After months of shopping, reading about leather, etc., we were just about to place our order for a D'Oro set in Dark Brown. After calling D'Oro, we found out it is hand rubbed analine dyed/color corrected. Would definitely not want a lighter color to show through with wear, so need to look for something in full grain as you suggested.

The toxic chemical smell was unbearable and was giving us all headaches and respiratory issues. I suspect the fumes were from the faux leather they use on the sides and back of their sofas... Hi u/crimson090 , I think you can give our sofas a shot. We use more premium leather and we have a great warranty policy! Our company specializes in making leather furniture, our quality better be good if that is the only thing we sell! If things go from bad to worse, you can always return it via Costco. Our leather definitely do not peel, if they start peeling then it's a factory defect and we will replace you with a new couch free of charge while making sure the new couch does not repeat the same issue! I also suggest buying leather conditioner. It is a small investment to make to care for your leather sofa. If you are in an area where weather can get very hot and dry, leather conditioner helps restore the natural oils and moisture in the leather. Top grain is my preferred for shoes because it's flexible enough for everyday wear, porous to let your sweat evaporate, and doesn't flake over time. Full grain I would use for belts, furniture, etc. Thanks for the clarification. Yeah, I bet full grain furnitures are way out of my budget. Last time I bought a sofa, it was made of bonded leather.

I really really want to buy this leather sectional off Costco. Love the look of it. Costs ~$2500 which I understand is reasonable for a leather couch, but is a big jump up from my previous (used) sectional.

That is an excellent price and a good product. Prospera Home is the tradename for Costco used by Hydeline. Hydeline makes very good quality mid-level leather furniture. It's sold by Hydeline under the Maui line for $3,299 (although there is a 10% discount code that brings it down to $2,970). You won't find a better deal - buy it.

I purchased an Abbyson Talia couch and loveseat from Costco a year ago. Unfortunately in the past month the leather has started peeling and shows a neon orange underneath, on both pieces. Costco is coming to pick them up for a refund, which is great. Definitely avoiding Abbyson but curious about another brand there, Prospera.
Oddly I can't find any information at all besides the reviews on Costco itself. Curious if anyone knows about this brand (apparently it's a trademark of Amax leather).
