We were scared it might be TOO soft—and don’t get me wrong, it is very soft—but we love it! My husband was having some back pain, and we weren’t sure if more softness or firmness would help. It’s been 4 days sleeping on it and both of us wish we would’ve bought one sooner! His back pain is gone (and hopefully stays that way.) I feel like I’m sleeping like a rock and not tossing and turning as much. My two dogs and cat love it too 😂 Highly recommended as of now!
This sub is full of people rightfully complaining about how the sub makes mattress shopping even more complicated and doesn't offer a Best Mattresses list. So here's my attempt to help:
I see no reason to shop anywhere but Costco for the following reasons:
Return Policy - I think everyone is aware of this. You can return a mattress at any time whatsoever as long as it doesn't have bodily fluid stains on it (as that's a biohazard). Easy way to ensure this is to immediately place a mattress cover on it
Delivery Policy - I order online and an upper end mattress comes with white glove delivery, and if I return it, they come pick it up
Limited selection. This is the point. Too many choices psychologically overwhelms us as humans. A more limited selection across several brands isn't going to frustrate us as much - and guess what? Their selection is wide enough that it can still frustate someone if that's what you want 🤣
Price. Can't beat it across several brands.
I got several Sealy posturepedic plus until I settled on the Mt Auburn medium for less than $750 for a queen.. My experience is that it is indeed hard as rock when first delivered, but softens up significantly after a week or two. Now it's medium firmness to the point where I'm even wondering if I want something firmer, in which case I may go for the Sterns and Foster.
I actually love a plush mattress but plush as in a nice plush top over a firm or responsive surface; whereas I don't like sinking into a mattress much. One reason my favorite in hotels can be the Simmons Hyde Park Plush, which they no longer sell, but I don't sink into the mattress.
Best of luck to you all. If you want to save yourself headache, just get a Costco membership, go to your warehouse if you want to see what they have, and order it online among the options
Mattresses to check out, as well as customer feedback as to actual firmness:
Tempur Cloud-supreme (medium plush) or Supreme (firm) - discontinued models still offered at Costco at a discount
Tempur Prima Flex Hybrid (medium-firm bed in a box)
Sealy Posturepedic Plus 14" Hybrid Ridgecrest II in Plush (too soft for me, was like sleeping in pudding) and Firm
Sealy Posturepedic Plus Hybrid Mt Auburn 13" (Medium)
Kirkland Sterns and Foster Hybrid Lakeridge 14.5" (Medium-Firm to Firm, plush top with firm surface beneath
Beautyrest Silver Hybrid DualCool 14.5" (Plush to Medium)
This is a great list from which you can narrow your search.

Also, I will say this much. I'd actually love to make my own mattress as a hobby. Have read so much about it that the idea of buying a pocket coil system and topping it with different layers of foam or latex seems appealing to me for fun even while I have a great mattress already. Just experimenting to make something great. But I ain't gonna let finding the mattress I sleep on take my life away and add stress haha.
Thinking between a few mattresses at Costco, can you provide your personal input if you’ve bought these mattresses or have any thoughts on the following:
All mattress will be King and for context my wife and I are buying a new bed and coming from a very firm mattresss from IKEA.
