Some of them are, some are not. I know I saw some there that were yesterday. But that means all memory foam mattresses which are possibly not a good choice for your back. I’d go to Mattress Warehouse or wherever and tell them you need Saturday delivery. Or else rent a truck for $20 an hour at Home Depot and transport it yourself. More on reddit.com

Costco does sell lower end mattresses mostly, but its also true that the price they charge for what you are getting is quite fair. Take the Avocado Organic as an example. Its $1200 and a nicer mattress than the Avocado Eco which retails for $1300. The Costco Tempur supreme which is supposed to be comparable to the entry line Tempur Adapt retails for $1900 in queen, while the Tempur Adapt is $2200 in Queen. Then probably the most egregious is the Costco Leesa Legend which is basically the same mattress as the one from Leesa's website, except it retails for $1050 vs $2600. Now sure the Leesa is intended to always be on sale basically, but still that just drops it down to around $2k usually. What really sells mattresses at Costco though is their return policy. Nobody offers a no hassle return like they do. If 5 years from now you dont like your mattress anymore they arnt going to send people out to measure and look for stains and other reasons to deny you a warranty, they arnt going to charge you return fees and such while only allowing store credit forcing you to get another mattress through them. Just a no hassle full cash refund whenever basically. More on reddit.com

We bought the current bed last year when we moved in together. It was $250 on Amazon, and we intended to use it forever. It's a foam mattress and isn't bad. A little on the stiffer side. We went into Costco the other day and saw they had a deal on a queen mattress for $400. It's half spring half foam as advertised. We sat on it and it felt pretty nice. Way nicer than our current bed imo. The only thing stopping me from buying this mattress, is the fact that we JUST bought our current mattress last year. I know we spend 1/3 of our lives in bed so having a comfy bed and comfy sleep is important to me. Again our current bed isn't too bad, but I think I just taught myself to accept it. This Costco bed feels like my ideal bed that I originally wanted (we blindly bought our mattress from Amazon without knowing how it actually felt before we purchased it. Decided to keep it because we didn't know how to return a mattress via Amazon lol). Is it justifiable to get this new bed?

No mattress lasts forever but especially not a $250 amazon one which is probably quite thin overall. Maybe sell the Amazon one and get the one you find more comfortable. Mattresses aren’t a place to skimp, you’ll use it for 10+ years so getting one that is quality is really worth it (and prevents greater costs + chronic pain down the road).

I’ve never had a new mattress in my life, so I’m really eager to get one now that I have the money. My current mattress sent me to physical therapy. My biggest issue is that I’d like to buy in-warehouse, but I’m not sure if I can transport the mattress. (I admit that this is entirely due to my own impatience, as well as not wanting to take a day off on the day of mattress delivery, as well as avoiding any headaches with unreliable delivery companies.)
I know some mattress companies/sellers can pack a mattress into a box the size of a mini fridge, and if I can buy one like that at the warehouse, it would be awesome. I just want to know if this is how they are packed when you buy them in-warehouse, or if I’d have to get another vehicle to get it home. (I drive a Chevy Cruze.) Or, do I have no choice but to have a mattress shipped to me?

We got a Casper hybrid, it came in the box like you said, super vacuum packed. That box was so freaking heavy! We ordered it from Casper and delivery was UPS. I've seen the Casper boxes in Costco before and they look like the one I got. It is too firm for me, honestly but my husband likes it. If you order from an online retailer, like Tuft and Needle, Casper, Nest, etc, can you select UPS shipping and either ask that they deliver on a weekend or have them hold it at the UPS depot for you to go pick up?

Title. I’ve been shopping online at Costco narrowing down some mattresses and decided I need to go into a brick and mortar store to see what type / firmness I should go for. I go into sleep country and most of the king size mattresses run 3-4K. At Costco I’m hard pressed to find one for more than 2k, in fact most hover around $1200. So what gives? They are all the same brands, although I can’t seem to match any of the Costco models to ones I see at sleepcountry or Leon’s etc. Do the major brands just sell a proprietary mattress at a discount just for Costco and is the quality lesser? Thanks!

A lot of speculation in this thread. The real answer is that Costco sells durable goods at grocery margins. They then rely on volume and the membership fees for their profits. For example, a typical mattress store would keep 50-70% of the retail price as their profit margin. Costco keeps 15%. Manufacturers want the Costco business so they go along with it despite it pissing off all of the other retailers. That’s why there are usually subtle differences on Costco models, to give a little bit less ability to cross shop. Also why they sometimes get special models just for them, like the TP ones. There are some exceptions to this, like apple goods (which are the same price everywhere) but it is largely true across everything Costco sells.
