You are probably talking about the Nuvola. It is like an FP-30X and comes with a stand, bench, and pedal. Your FP-10 is a nice instrument, though: it is what I started with. And if you have a stand and bench already... The stock FP-10 pedal sucks, though, and should be replaced. Neither of these sound great with the onboard speakers. And both have the same PHA-4 action. If you want to spend money you might consider getting some speakers and an amp for the FP-10 you have. Answer from BBorNot on reddit.com

I just got Costco’s new Roland RFP-Nuvola bundle. It does seem like a variation of the FP-30X, with subtle cosmetic variations and small internal differences e.g. a slightly different song/sound list and upgraded Bluetooth (v5.0). I recommend comparing the user manuals on Roland’s website to see the details.

I think the stand and pedal bar look great! Note that the bundle’s bench does not have storage.

Wish me luck — starting lessons this week!

March 24, 2022 - So far, my options are Casio sx-s3100 (my friend has one, seems really nice), a cheap yamaha like p145, or Roland FP-10 (Costco had a bundle with stand, a pedal, a bench, and a headphone for 999 CAD).

We bought the FP-10 at Costco probably 4 years ago. My musical kid is now interested in recording her own music. The FP-10 has BT midi.... but more interesting, it has software updates. and one from June 2023 that fixes some BT midi issues. I would never have known if I could have found my manual.

and i haven't installed it yet. Can't seem to find a thumb drive, so I'll have to wait till I pick one up on the weekly Costco trip.

r/pianolearning on Reddit: Roland FP10 are on sale again — tips on which one to buy
November 18, 2023 -

Roland FP10 is $419 at Adorama right now with free shipping.

Roland FRP is $549 at Costco with $80 shipping so like $629 but comes with bench, headphones, stand, sustain pedal, etc.

I’m a beginner, last played piano like 20 years ago. A little conflicted on which one to get. Is the added accessories worth $200? The benefit of not having those accessories is I can move the piano around the house or store it under the bed.

The alternative is to wait for a FP30X which sometimes goes on sale for $469 after $100 rebate or buy used (although I’m a little bit nervous buying used keyboards not knowing how to check if something broke.)

Suggestins would be appreciated!

r/piano on Reddit: Is the Roland FP-30x worth the extra $200 USD over the FP-10 (2025)
November 26, 2025 -

I am in the final phase of planning to buy my first digital piano. I am currently borrowing a very old keyboard with synth action keys that I have been learning on, but with the current black Friday deals I want to make the jump to something with a weighted action.

I'm having trouble finding some definitive answers on the FP-10 vs FP-30x, since a lot of search results for P-30x actually are for the FP-30 (which I didn't even know existed until today despite researching for about a week since so many results are mixed together between the two...)

It seems clear that the FP-10 is a significant upgrade from the FP-30, but is the FP-30x enough of an upgrade over the FP-10 to justify shelling out another $200 dollars (FP-10 is currently priced at $399 while the FP-30X is listed at $599)?

I have played both in person, and I can't tell much of a difference other than the speakers sounding better on the FP-30x. I am new to piano, but not new to learning and playing music so there is definitely less risk involved with me dropping piano as a hobby down the line so I don't want to just get the cheaper one to play it safe, HOWEVER, if the FP-10 is mostly the same I would love to save $200.

Is there anything major that puts one over the other value wise? I would like to not feel the need to upgrade for at least 5-10 years and at that point, if I am still playing, I would likely just get an upright.

Roland FRP vs Roland FP10 - Piano World Piano & Digital Piano Forums
I am a lifetime professional pianist, most of my work is on acoustic pianos. I just bought an FRP Nuvola from Costco. The FRP Nuvola piano was surprisingly disappointing to me when I got it home from Costco. I have two Roland FP10s and they have a much better acoustic, grand piano sound....

Hi all,

Can someone tell me more about the Roland pianos on sale at Costco currently? There are three I am looking at:

FRP Nuvola $599 on sale

https://www.costco.com/roland-frp-nuvola-digital-piano-bundle.product.4000278347.html

CPF-107 $1199 on sale

RP750 $899 on sale:

They all appear to be bundles and include the same things, but please correct me if I'm wrong. Since they are Costco specific models, it's been hard to find good information on these. Also, I'd like to know the technical differences between these as well as how they sound and play. Many thanks!

I've seen a lot of reviews saying that the Roland FP10 is the best keyboard for beginners, and that you just have to use headphones since its speakers aren't that good, but I don't wanna use headphones because I already use them all day.

Should I buy somthing like a Korg B2 or Yamaha P145 instead?

I was able to snag the floor model for $350 total. It didn't come with any papers, boxes, or the sustain pedal.

  1. Can anyone recommend an inexpensive pedal for a brand new adult beginner? Is one absolutely necessary to learn the piano?

  2. Did anyone else purchase this exact Costco bundle? Please PM me -- I have some specific questions to ask if you don't mind -- mostly on how to activate the software trials. I believe there's a 1-year trial and some 90-day trial? Since I don't have the box or papers, I'm lost as to how I can activate those software trials and I'm thinking they can be very useful for a brand new beginning to learn.

  3. Can anyone share any resources (free software, websites, books, etc.) for a brand new adult beginner very eager to learn?

I know nothing about pianos but have been thinking of getting a digital one for many months now. I want to get my 7 and almost 6 year old started on lessons and I definitely don’t want to buy an upright one. Those who know a thing or two about pianos, would this be a good one for the purpose I’m looking for? Is it a good quality? Would love any advice or insight. Reviews seem good but would love to hear more from anyone here. Thanks in advance.

I'm a private piano teacher and recommend this piano to my students as a good beginner and intermediate piano. Not quite one I'd take on stage but a great piano for the price.

I got this over a year ago and have liked it a lot. It’s the only digital keyboard I’ve ever owned so I’m not an expert, but I did a lot of research before making such a big purchase and pretty much came to the conclusion that this particular model was the best you are gonna get in terms of quality for the price. It’s called a Roland fp-10 if you want to research it more for yourself. The keyboard itself has next to no features, it’s as barebones as it gets. It’s got a few sound presets and a metronome, that’s pretty much it. The price goes all into the hammer action which feels really nice and real. It does double as a midi, I would hook it up to my laptop to get some nice sounds out of it. For the bundle the stand is decent, it’s got no issues so far. The stool is good and sturdy after continuous use, headphones are decent quality. The pedal is pretty much garbage, I’ve personally never bothered to replace it and it works fine still, but if you want your kids to learn on proper pedals you should swap it out. One nitpick about the piano is sometimes certain keys would start to make grating noises when pressed after some use. I read a tip somewhere to tilt the piano 90 degrees so the keys are facing away from you and press the problem key a bunch. It would work, and that issue occurred maybe 5 or six times over the course of like 3, 4 months and it went away completely. I tried to give you as much info as I can think of, definitely one of the better options for a digital piano imo, especially if just starting out. if u have any questions just ask. Good luck with your hunt!

I just had a chance to try this the other day in Costco. For $699 you get the keyboard, a stand, 3-pedal setup, and a bench. The action is like the FP-10, 30X, and 60X, all of which use the same action, which is not bad. The keyboard itself is like an amped up FP-10. The speakers are not great, but if you use headphones or an external amplifier it doesn't matter. If you buy an FP-10 for $500 it will have a garbage pedal which will cost $60 to replace, and you still need a stand and bench.

IMHO this is really the rock bottom, solid entry point for a beginner keyboard. If you can afford an acoustic do that, but if you can't this is a very reasonable starting point.

r/piano on Reddit: Roland FP-10 Bundle or Roland FP-30x? Which One to Buy?
October 12, 2023 -

Started learning piano around September this year and like it so I am looking to buy my first piano. After doing research, I am deciding between the Roland FP-10 and the Roland FP-30x. My local Costco is selling an FP-10 bundle, including a stand, bench, and headphones for about 550 dollars. The other option is the Roland FP-30x for about 150 dollars more, or about 50 to 100 dollars more if I buy one used.

What do you think? Is the upgrade to FP-30x worth it?
