I haven't tested out either but recommend against memory foam for kids. Idk about yours but mine always slept hot especially at that age and would wake up sweaty, memory foam is only going to make that worse. Answer from garbagegoat on reddit.com

For a child that young, they weigh so little that most mattresses won't collapse from them very quickly. Any regular Ikea kids mattress should do the trick, but I don't know if they have those certifications. More on reddit.com

We are on a shoestring budget (under $500, ideally around $300) but would love to buy him something that will last more than two or three years and that we won’t destroy if we (mom and dad) occasionally crawl in bed with him for a cuddle. Would like it to be Greenguard/Certi-Pur certified, but otherwise we don’t care if it’s foam, spring, latex, etc so long as it lasts.
What would you buy if you were us? I’m losing my mind here.

This might not apply, but we had a VERY active son, and put the mattress directly on the floor for a couple of years until we knew he wouldn’t destroy the box spring and frame.

Getting ready to transition from crib mattress to either a twin or full. Overwhelmed by the number of mattress options available and unclear if the youth-specific mattresses are gimmicky (seems it but I haven't done much research)! The main thing I'm looking for is a mattress that's comfortable enough for toddler (kid is 2yo) as well as adults since I assume we'll be sleeping on it a fair amount!

Twin would be fine, but double works better for us. Lots of space to read books and cuddle if you want. We started with a twin and it was way too small for us both to be comfortable.
