I was at my local Costco today and they were selling gamepass ultimate cards for $90. These were for 6 months but had a listed value of $99.99, I’m guessing this is based on the old price of GPU. If I buy and redeem these now , will I get 6 months of GPU or will I get the $100 value which would be 5 months?

Costco Canada has 6 months ultimate for $125. Comes to about $20.83, much better than the $33.99 it would be monthly. Highly recommend if you plan to continue with Ultimate for a good value.

Right before the price increase, I managed to get 24 months for just under $300 total working out to like ~$12.50 a month. This was by converting a combo of Xbox gold or w/e it's called now and EA Play. It's obviously more difficult now to hit that price point but lots of places are still selling Gold at a lower price and the price for EA Play hasn't changed as far as I know, so you can do a lot better than $33 a month if you are willing to do the leg work.

I have a question to do with game pass. I’ve subscribed to PC only so the wife and I can play together on our desktops, however I have a question to do with subscription tiers. I can buy Xbox gift cards through Costco for a very cheap monthly subscription, however they offer “Core” and “ultimate” only, nothing refers to the PC only pass. If I buy “Xbox Game Pass Core - Digital Download” will that count towards a PC only game pass?

Game Pass Core is console only and doesn't convert to PC Game Pass so it wouldn't work, it would just give you Core on a console. If you use an Ultimate code (no reason to do that since PC game pass includes all the same content) it would convert your remaining PC game pass to ultimate at 3:2

I wouild expect like most gift cards that the "product" is just a theme for the card and if just adds credit to the MD account that you can buy anything with. I have never seen a MS card that was for a specific product. It the value even correct for it and not just a round number like they tend to be?

You can buy gamepass ultimate cards from places such as CD Keys and you'll save a lot. Other thing to know is that you can buy gamepass core cards and then convert the subscription to gamepass ultimate at a 2:1 ratio.

When you get Gamepass make sure you download the Xbox app if you don't have it downloaded already, and make sure to do the Gamepass quests. You can earn Microsoft Rewards points and you can redeem a month of Ultimate every month and a half or so, or you can get 5-10 dollars gift cards in around the same time frame. The quests are incredibly easy to do as well

Free to play games like Fortnite and Rocket League don’t require any online subscriptions to play, if you didn’t know. You don’t need any tier of gamepass or formerly Xbox live. They just work.

I'd say look at the list of games that Premium offers, since not all of them will be available without Ultimate. Unless your kids also uses your account to play Rocket League and Fortnite, Ultimate also offers Monthly Crew which also covers the battle passes from those two games. If they're not using your account, they won't be getting those passes. If all else, I'd say yes and just drop down to Premium.

Even then they might still sell you a code that's region locked to a different. In the past you could buy global keys for cheap from cdkeys or eneba, but they weren't actually global, and Microsoft blocked them so it's a gamble now from any unauthorized sellers

Another poster did say they got just under 3 years at about 15-16 US dollars per month with the new setup. With that said, the basic concept still works. —————————————————————- Original post: 3 years or EA Play. 3:1 conversion 3 Years of Core. 2:1 conversion. 6 months of PC Gamepass. 4:3 conversion When you add the PC Gamepass it will ask if you want to turn on recurring billing and will give you 1 extra month. Buy 1 month of ultimate. This will get you 36 months of Ultimate. I shopped around and my total was like 10.59 per month or so. You can get a cheaper monthly cost (by a dollar/ish) if you don’t go for the 3 years and just do whatever you can get your hand on cheapest. Why did I focus so hard on getting all three years. Because look at the price increases the last three years combined with the nerfing of the conversion rates. I wanted to lock in on this conversion and just not have to worry every year or so how I’m going to get ultimate cheap.

ADVISE: it appears that as of 9/11 the conversion has been changed from 3:2 to 2:1.

On CD Keys I got 3 years of XBL Gold and 1 months of Ultimate for $140. This gets you 2 years of ultimate for less than $6 per month. Below is the guide I used and everything worked flawlessly, just have to make sure your current sub expires first!

I know it's probably old news too a lot of you but just putting it out there for those in aware.

My current subscription doesn't run out until April so I think I'm going to just stock up on some regular GPU codes before the price hike rather than taking the chance on grabbing Core codes and hoping that the conversion still works by the time I can use them.

- Buy Xbox Gold Live up to 36 months

- Buy Game Pass Ultimate for $1 for the first month

- You now have 36 months of Game Pass Ultimate for the price of 36 months of Xbox Live Gold.

Xbox Live Gold memberships are not available via Microsoft anymore, but you can still find them on Costco, Amazon or Best Buy.

If you have access to other countries' markets, it can even get cheaper. For instance, three years of Live Gold is $90 in Turkey.

They don't exist. Microsoft only sells 1 and 3 months, and there is no discount on the 3 month codes https://support.xbox.com/help/subscriptions-billing/manage-subscriptions/xbox-game-pass-conversions The "trick" is to convert game pass core to ultimate, since 12 month core is sold at a discount, and you an get them at most retailers that sell box gift cards. Core converts to Ultimate at rate of 2:1 if you currently do not have an active or ultimate or standard sub. No active standard or ultimate sub Buy and redeem up to 36 months of game pass core (optional also 36 months of EA Play Xbox). Note: there are some regions that limit core 13 months see support.xbox.com Sign up for ultimate You get 6 months of Ultimate for every 12 months of core. So the most your can get is 18 months with core. However if your redeem 36 months of EA Play (xbox console) at the same time as core, you can convert that for an addition 12 months of Ultimate. If you just wanted a year, I think converting only EA Play works out to a slightly lower monthly cost, but not by much. You can also convert game pass core to just game pass standard at rate of 3:2. Since standard does not include ea play, ea play can only be converted to ultimate.

Game pass is not worth it unless you are playing lots of games in its rotating library. If you are just playing a handful, steam is more economical.

I've been paying for Game Pass Ultimate since the generation started, and while I do think the $16.99/mo price tag is still a great value, I just wish there was an option where you could pay yearly at a discounted rate. It's odd because Game Pass Core (Formerly Xbox Live Gold) has the yearly option. And PlayStation Plus allows you to pay yearly too, with their Premium tier being $17.99/mo OR $159.99/year, a 25% discount.

I think a yearly sub for $160 or even $170 would be really cool and I'd totally pay for it. Would you pay yearly?

(EDIT): I know you can get Game Pass through MS Rewards, but I use my Reward Points on micro-transactions (V-Bucks, Auric Cells, Overwatch Coins, etc.). But thank y'all for the CDKeys suggestions and Game Pass Core Conversion.

I think MS is scared that if they made a yearly one, people would actually pay attention to how much GP adds up to. Same reason why most subscriptions won’t. $17a month, doesn’t sound horrible but put an option for $190 and people start to think “I pay $190 a year for this? Wtf!?”.

Until last year, you could buy 3 years of Xbox Live for $60 a year and convert it to 3 years of GPU for $1. So about $180 for 3 years of GPU. Now you can buy 3 years of Gamepass Core and convert it to 2 years of GPU for whatever 1 month of GPU costs. So about $200 for 2 years (or $100 per year). This is a better deal than the $170 for 1 year deal that you are suggesting.

Been reading about converting gold to ultimate since it first started circulating. Built a PC for the first time and snagged the series x recently so thought it'd be a good time to get this going.

Didn't have any previous or current memberships.

Bought a 24 month gold ($94.99) and a 12 month gold ($54.99) online from costco.

Redeemed the codes on xbox unchecking the recurring option, had gold through 12/15/2023. Upgraded to ultimate using the $1 for 3 months promo, all gold was converted to ultimate. Next charge for ultimate will be 2/15/2024.

94.99 + 54.99 +1.07 = $151.05 for what normally would have been around $600 with tax. Was considering getting ea play until i saw ultimate started including that too, so all in all, pretty happy to say the least!

Not sure how long this conversion will last, but good luck and have fun!!
