Just tried this for you with my husband's 35L Allpa and a really nice shoulder strap from an old Timbuk2 messenger bag. I did not load the bag, but the way it hung from the strap seemed balanced so I think this could work. You could easily attach the strap to the top and bottom handles with large enough opening in your strap clips or carabiner. The top handle was too thick for me to completely latch the existing carabiner on my strap to the top handle but that is just my strap. I am sure you could find a strap that would work. Note that the bottom handle is just single-layer regular strap webbing and not reinforced like the top handle, so this setup could eventually stretch, damage, or break the bottom handle if you have a heavy pack without any additional reinforcement. Make sure to carry it with the laptop compartment zip facing up and the easy access to main compartment zipper on the bottom. One final note, I know you want the 35L, but just to let you know, I am 5'4" and preferred the 28L. Edited for clarity. Answer from lsthomasw on reddit.com

Hi everyone! I’m in the market for a quality one bag for work trips and week long vacations where I’ll be moving around a bit.
Baboon to the Moon’s marketing originally sucked me in. I like the size of the 40L, bright colors, and roomy interior. I’m a huge fan of the fact that it can be carried over the shoulder as a duffle and as a backpack. The one major downside is that it doesn’t have a compartment for my MacBook.
I’ve been doing some research on the Cotopaxi Allpa, and I’m really leaning towards the 35L because the 42L will likely be too big for my needs (I prefer to carry on), and I’m relatively short so I’d rather have a bag that doesn’t look like it’s eating me alive.
Photos for the 42 show that it can be carried duffle style but I can’t seem to find info on whether or not the 35 can be carried the same way?

You might consider the Heimplanet Transit Line Travel Pack 34L, which is roughly the same size as the Allpa 35. Those of you who have this bag: is there a place on the bag where I could attach a crossbody strap if I wanted to? Two sturdy loops on the corners?
I'm debating between this bag and the Patagonia MLC 30L. I prefer the Cotopaxi but would like the option to carry crossbody at times.

Edited with my final decision: I ordered the Cotopaxi Allpa 28L. It arrived yesterday and I did a test pack and I love it. Ultimately I realized I preferred the clamshell design.

I was also looking at both and went with the patagonia. It’s amazing and has some features the Cotopaxi was missing like a water bottle pocket, luggage pass through and organization in the laptop sleeve. I think you get more bang for your buck with the patagonia.

I have the Cotopaxi 35l and can hook a spare shoulder strap from the top and bottom grab handles with a couple of carabineers and it's pretty balanced and comfortable. But I rarely carry it this way because I am worried about the wear on the handles in the long run. No evidence of that yet but the concern is there.
