I’m looking for an odor eliminating fabric spray for my couch. I’m a bit overwhelmed at all the options and would like recommendations from people who’ve used fabric sprays before.
I wash the couch cushion covers every couple of months, and they are 100% polyester. I just need something to help maintain in between washes.
I have one small dog who loves to lay on the couch so he is the main reason it gets stinky. I’ve tried couch covers off of amazon to help but due to the weird shape of my couch they don’t fit.
Thanks in advance!
I see a lot of posts here asking about cleaning upholstery. I make my own cleaner and can’t remember when I last bought upholstery cleaner. The recipe I use is cheap, works for most fabric types (though this cleaner is water-based), and I never had problems with staining.
This is a good one for most types of indoor upholstery, and it also cleans pet stains well. Here’s the formula:
Halff-cup of water
Three tablespoons of white vinegar
One teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide (only if the stain is bad)
I place this mixture in a bowl. Using a sponge, I start by dabbing the outside and working inward. Put special emphasis on stains and any dirty spots.
This is the cleaner I use for my car upholstery:
½ cup soda water
¼ cup white vinegar
A few drops of dish soap
2/4 drops of essential oil of your choice (optional; it leaves a nice scent)
Combine these ingredients in a spray bottle. Spray on your upholstery and wipe off with a washcloth. For stains, spray the mixture on the stain, let it sit for 3-5 minutes, and scrub off with a brush. Vacuum your upholstery beforehand if necessary.
I hope this helps!
