Hello,
I'm looking to purchase a Ryzen 7 7800X3D. I did some research on a cooler for it and decided to go with the Noctua NH-D15 air cooler. I saw it mentioned a bunch of times as a really trust worth, well tested option that's been around for a long time.
While discussing my build with a friend, they pointed out that Ryzen recommends a liquid cooler and not an air one: https://www.amd.com/en/products/apu/amd-ryzen-7-7800x3d Another friend said that while that's true, I should also take into consideration what kind of case I'll be using. If I'll be using a case that has good airflow, an air cooler might actually be better. I'm looking to purchase the Fractal Design Torrent case, which in 2022 was very popular for its really good out of the box air flow.
What should I do? Should I start looking for a liquid cooler or will an air one work well for me? Does anyone have any experience with pairing the Ryzen 7 7800X3D and Noctua NH-D15?

The 7800X3D can be cooled with the Wraith Prism AMD stock cooler . (In an ideal scenario. You should at least get a single-tower cooler like the SE-214-XT.) You don't need anything extravagant. Even the NH-D15 is very overkill for it. I have two Torrents Compact, and they move plenty of air for a small cooler to use on the 7800X3D.

I got a ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU 2 days ago and i Installed it last night and since I didn't have a new cooler yet I installed on my Amd wraith stealth cooler from my previous build to at least get it running.
The CPU is brand new i found it for a good price on ebay through Ubuyfirst which was a good deal and when i boot it the temps are spiking to 85-90°C under even light load which I know isn't right for this chip so my cooler clearly can't keep up with it at all.
This is only my second time installing a CPU so I want to make sure I get the right cooler this time and mount it properly. What would you guys recommend for the 7800X3D? Any suggestions would help a lot.
