I got it working a bit better, albeit still a bit loud. I guess I'll just deal with it for now and upgrade later to a Noctua or something. Thanks for the help/advice though. Self awarded Best Answer removed by moderator Answer from dudeguy6218 on forums.tomshardware.com

Why is my computer fan constantly revving? Even when it's not hot/overheating and I'm not on my computer it revs, it does so constantly when I am on it? - Quora
Answer (1 of 2): Here are some reasons for high speed fans and the cure, in no particular order: You (or the person that set up your computer) may have configured BIOS to run the fan at max speed or set up a “fan curve” that is highly aggressive at cooling your CPU.

I have a desktop computer that revs the fan up whenever anything is happening on screen, including simply moving the mouse. If it's sitting idle the fan spins at the normal rate, but any activity and it sounds like it's getting ready for takeoff. First thought was overheating. The CPU (dual... More on technibble.com

Fan Revving Up and Down Constantly

This is normal. Your cpu fan will rev up and down based on the load as a higher load equals higher temps. If the sound bugs you, you should invest in an aftermarket cpu cooler or aio.

Fan in PC revving up and down?
I have had a sort of revving noise in my PC for quite a while, I assumed it was the Cpu or Gpu and since I have replaced both the Cpu fan and tried two different motherboards. I remember having the issue on and older PSU also, and have since upgraded to an Evga G2 Gold. I have turned unplugged... More on forums.tomshardware.com

I had a similar issue when I installed my Wraith cooler that came with the 3900X. I followed the advice from this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NcZCMu5kCw&t=3s No more noise. Give it a try. More on reddit.com

Random PC Fan Revving: What Causes It & How to Fix It
September 17, 2021 - It’s reasonable and completely normal to expect that your CPU will cross into the 40C region for brief periods of time during normal use, and when that happens, your fan will “rev up” the speed. This could be the entire cause of your annoying fan revving situation!

Stop What’s Revving Your CPU Fan Constantly in Windows 10
July 14, 2021 - Below, I noticed the System Host Process regularly accessed CPU cycles at 30%, sometimes going as high as 36%. Expanding the System Host Process tree reveals quite some services running in the background. This was a trial and error; I noticed Geolocation Service was running, so I decided to disable it first. Surprisingly, it worked, and the CPU fan stops revving up.

CPU Fan Keeps Revving Up And Down
February 14, 2024 - If your CPU fan keeps revving up and down, it could be due to a malfunctioning fan or motor. A fan with damaged blades or bearings may not rotate smoothly, resulting in irregular speeds.

Why do my fans rev up and down? | [H]ard|Forum
June 9, 2019 - The answer is that the stock fan profile is too aggressive / responsive to CPU temperature. This happened too on my 2700X. You constantly hear the fans spinning up and spinning down, as opposed to a more constant fan speed that changes speed only gradually. The latter is less perceptible.

r/pcmasterrace on Reddit: Fan Revving Up and Down Constantly
October 12, 2019 -

I have a prebuilt pc from Acer (i know) it has been good and can run most things but my CPU fan keeps revving up and down. It is to a point where I know the time in between each rev. It starts to do this after the computer has been turned off for a while. (I now turn off my pc when I sleep so I don't go crazy.) I tried installing speed fan and going into the bios. Speedfan wouldn't detect any fan, and the bios only had only a "Smart fan" option to enable or disable. The computer is an Aspire GX-785 (its the one with the i7-7700k and 1060 they don't make anymore). I don't know what the motherboard is but under my msinfo it says American Megathreads for the bios.

If someone could help me it would mean a lot because this fan is driving me crazy. I am willing to provide any info if it would help!

How To Stop CPU Fan From Revving Up And Down
February 14, 2024 - CPU fan revving up and down may occur due to insufficient cooling. When the processor generates excessive heat, the fan speeds up to dissipate that heat and keep the CPU temperature within acceptable limits.

September 25, 2020 - When you went into BIOS you should have observed the RPM. Watch to see if that is really changing speed as you say it is. I suspect that you have a bad fan bearing and that is causing partial resistance ..hence the speed changes. Just take the fan out---measure and replace it.

The fans keep revving up and down. I open chrome it revvs up for a couple of seconds and then it goes quiet again. At times, it revvs up when I haven’t even opened an application. What did I do wrong? Please help thanks

CPU Fan reving up/down randomly | [H]ard|Forum
January 24, 2013 - The revving sounds like the fan profile is sitting on its hysteresis point. Try using speedfan (or similar) and building a custom fan profile. Since they are not gaming, it doesn't really need to be super cool. On my system, I have my fans running at minimal voltage (35%) to keep it spinning all the way until around 50°C, at which point I ramp up to 100% at 65°C.
