Anything under 95C is considered safe. But personally, I would keep it below 85C for long term use. Gaming should not stress the CPU at a constant 100%. So if you're consistently seeing temps above 85C, there is something that needs to be fixed. Answer from sk9592 on reddit.com

What is a good temp range for a cpu?

Try to keep it below 70c under load although I'd say about 60c is good for safety's sake. Also here's a nice guide

CPU & GPU temperatures during gaming

Technically, most CPUs and GPUs are perfectly happy running up to 100C, even for extended periods, and they have systems built-in to prevent damage from overheating, should it occur.

What you should instead look for is abnormal (for your PC) temperatures. Your CPU hits 70C now, so if it starts hitting 75-80 in a few months, you'll know the heatsink and fan need to be cleaned out. Then it should be back to normal.

Only very, very rarely is heat the thing that kills a component, and despite temperature being a number that people like to throw around a lot in the PC gaming community, it really isn't something to worry about. It's mostly bragging. Even many years of not cleaning out heatsinks will most likely only lower performance a bit and not permanently break anything. Hell, the cooling system is far more likely to break than the CPU or GPU itself. Even then, still not disastrous.

CPU Temp Guide: What's Normal, Safe Limits & How to Fix It
April 9, 2026 - In the past, when it got to 95°C, the temperature would drop right away. CPUs today are built in a different way. To get the most out of the performance, they use boost algorithms to raise the temperatures on purpose. As you get closer to the limit, though, the extra performance you get goes down while power use and heat go through the roof.
