Methods to Measure CPU Power Consumption
After choosing the brand and model, the calculator shows the recommended PSU wattage is 65 Watts. Making use of applications is a simple and quick way to calculate the power consumption of the CPU. There are a lot of applications available for use. Among them, we recommend Open Hardware Monitor, ...
Does higher wattage mean better performance?
No. Performance depends more on efficiency, architecture, and cooling than raw wattage.

October 17, 2022 -
Hello,
I would like to know if there is any parameter on the performance monitor that will track the CPU power consumption in watts or milliwatts.
I know there are some external tools but I would like to use any direct OS.

power consumption monitor? - Linux Mint Forums
October 11, 2024 - I mean, I know the theoretic power consumption of my hardware, I knew this ever since I purchased each device separately as it's the 1st computer I've ever built, so I remember the technical specs, and I know that - indeed - my CPU consumes 65 W in theory. I just wish that I saw the real and actual power consumption via software, I don't know how much clearer I can make this. And yes, I did install the "stress" app because I have been prompted to do it. But I obviously didn't know that I could terminate it by pressing CTRL + C or by using the System Monitor app (which is great by the way, I really like this app), that's why I panic-rebooted the PC via the reset button.

Firstly, head to the HWiNFO website and install and run the software. It is a very small piece of software so this won't take long. With the software running, click Sensors. Locate and check CPU Package Power to view the total CPU consumption.

What's the preferred way to measure system or CPU power usage, aside from "at the wall"?
HWinfo64?
Others include, but are not limited to: power consumption meter at the wall (between wall socket and PC power plug). <- Have that (namely MacLean Energy MCE06 230V/16A wattmeter). Bought it prior buying UPS, to know how beefy of an UPS i need.
Another option is UPS that has LCD display. So you can look exactly how much power is delivered via UPS to PC. Aka how much power your PC consumes. For added convenience, UPS that connects to PC via USB cable, so you can check the power consumption from software, either dedicated one or from HWinfo64. <- Have that too (CyberPower CP1300EPFCLCD).
Overall, there is no "preferred" one. Use what you trust.

I'd read about a PSU with built-in monitoring capabilities, but I couldn't remember which one.
Corsair AXi isn't the only one. Others include Asus ROG Thor and NZXT E-series.
Digital monitoring of PSU is neat, but including it to PSUs will jack up the price even more. So, this currently is still in niche segment.
