I would guess that it’s an American Leather mechanism that’s in their sofa, and Crate & Barrel designed the general look of it. Room & Board’s Berin is made by American Leather also. The mattress is basically memory foam so should hold up well over time. The reviews are quite favorable. They also have one called Ellingson made by American Leather and has the same style mattress. Don’t get the Metro sleeper sofa from them. As a sofa, it’s hard as a rock. The mattress is good though. More on reddit.com

Yes! Had a Barrett sofa for about 7 years. Would have had it longer if our new place fit it (moved to NYC) I highly recommend. Sturdy piece of furniture and the fabric held up with a 90 lb Labrador on it every day and night. Get it. More on reddit.com

I'm looking for a sectional + chaise that folds down into a sleeper sofa. We have family visiting regularly who will be sleeping on it (inc my elderly parents) so comfort is a priority. I've read that American Leather is the best in terms of sleeper quality. I have my eye on the Fuller line from Crate + Barrel- their website says it is "designed in collaboration with American Leather". Does anyone have an more info on this? Are they the same mattress/mechanism as those in American Leather?

As an aside, my other top contender right now is the Berlin line from Room & Board. Anybody have experience with the sleeper/mattress? I'd also love other recommendations within the same (or lower) price range.

I have the Room & Board Berin in our basement and we use it as a guest bed. By far the most comfortable pull out sofa I’ve ever used!
