So this is my first iPhone and I don't want to set up with an inferior account, if it even matter haha. When I go on the setup page for the apple ID it says I can use any email so my Gmail or I can create a new icloud. Which option is best?

Don't use your normal gmail, or any account. The email you use for your Apple ID should be used exclusively for that. Don't email anyone anytime with it and don't hand it out. All your purchases, your apple credit card, your entire apple identity is tied to that email address. Treat it like a password and keep it private.

I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to create an Apple ID without entering an email address (ex. gmail/hotmail/whatever) when signing up and just using the iCloud email address it creates for you as your Apple ID.
