I believe iTunes supports some basic auth protocols but not sure about Downcast. Keeping the feed out of sight might be all you need though.

How do I make a podcast?
Get a USB microphone (the ATR2100 or the Samson Q2U are both good).
Connect your microphone to your computer, iPhone, Android, or tablet.
Record your audio. You can use free software like Garage Band (Mac) or Audacity (PC).
Export your recorded audio to MP3. For audio quality, choose 44100 Hz and 128 kb/s in your export settings.
Log in to your Transistor hosting account.
Upload the MP3 file you recorded, and then publish your episode.
Now, your hosting provider will generate an RSS feed for your podcast.
Submit your podcast's RSS feed to Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
Every time you publish a new episode, listeners will automatically get it in their podcast player!

Hi all, I'm producing a pod and we have a host email, YT account and just got the RSS feed up so I want to also post to Apple and Spotify. Spotify was easy and Apple seems easy as well, but I need to create an Apple ID (now called Apple Account) to post to Apple.
I have a personal Apple Account but would like to create a new one just for posting the podcast I produce, to stay organized. However I get hit with the error code when trying to create a new account because they all must be tied to a phone number, but obviously mine is in use already.
I read some other posts here but don't see any definitive answer. Have others had this issue and is there a workaround? I really want to keep my personal and working account separate - how is this not possible?

You don't need an Apple ID to submit your podcast to Apple Podcasts. You used to, up until March this year, because you needed to submit manually via Podcasts Connect (Apple's podcaster dashboard) using your Apple ID. Apple changed this process in March, and now it's a simple one-click submission via your podcast hosting platform, and usually approved within an hour. You can still claim the show on Podcasts Connect for additional data about your audience on Apple Podcasts, and for that you'd need an Apple ID. But if you're just submitting your RSS feed to get your show on Apple Podcasts, you don't need to do it with your Apple ID anymore. :) Disclaimer: I'm Head of Podcaster Support & Experience at Captivate

Went through something similar. I launched my podcast TODAY and can’t claim my show. I tried creating an Apple account. Got to the step where it send a verification code to my cell number (which is tied to my personal Apple account) and it times out and doesn’t let me proceed. Can’t claim my show. Let me know if you figure it out. I’ll do the same.
