I have set up 3 separate podcasts for clients over the last few months. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME, we run into the same issue where creating an Apple ID and connecting it to Apple Podcast Connect puts us in a loop where "Something went wrong, please try again later."
There is no later. The process doesn't work. You need to verify using a phone number and add a payment method...through iTunes? And then you get stuck again.
This results in a 2-hour tech support call where the rep does...SOMETHING(?) on the backend to activate the account and finally get Podcast Connect set with the Apple ID.
EVERY other podcast platform takes 20 seconds to set up. Create account, connect the feed, verify via email, and you're good to go.
Does anyone have insight into this? Is there anyone who works at Apple (beyond the call center) who can explain why it has become a WEEKS-LONG process to put a podcast on Apple these days? It's honestly embarrassing to go through this with new clients every damn time.
Hi all, I'm producing a pod and we have a host email, YT account and just got the RSS feed up so I want to also post to Apple and Spotify. Spotify was easy and Apple seems easy as well, but I need to create an Apple ID (now called Apple Account) to post to Apple.
I have a personal Apple Account but would like to create a new one just for posting the podcast I produce, to stay organized. However I get hit with the error code when trying to create a new account because they all must be tied to a phone number, but obviously mine is in use already.
I read some other posts here but don't see any definitive answer. Have others had this issue and is there a workaround? I really want to keep my personal and working account separate - how is this not possible?
So I'm getting a client's podcast hosting and feed set up. We have created a unique email address as the "anchor" for all the accounts (eg: [email protected]).
I'm using this email to create the Apple ID. Note: I am doing this on the Web, as I don't use Apple devices, but I can get access to them if needed.
When I create the account, it just says "Your Request could not be completed at this time. Your account cannot be created at this time." Zero info on why.
I suspect it has to do with adding the client's phone number as the recovery method. I assume she has an iPhone, so her number is likely in use with a different Apple ID.
I can't use my number, because that is already associated with my Apple ID (and/or other podcasts).
So....how the hell am I supposed to create this account if there are no phone numbers left to use? OR, if it's not the phone # issue, what is blocking me here?
Semi-related, I have gone through this ride trying to set up a different podcast/Apple ID, and while I was able to create the account, it took MONTHS going back and forth with Apple support to get the Apple ID to communicate with Apple Podcast Connect.
TLDR: Apple's Web/account infrastructure continues to be absolute dogshit in 2024!
Update: After multiple attempts on different days, I was able to complete email verification, but not phone verification. After sending the text, I would always get "Your account cannot be created at this time."
I asked the client to set it up herself, and she was also blocked. She spent 2 HOURS on the phone with Apple Support, and eventually got it set up. When I asked what the problem was, she said Apple wasn't sure either.
Every other platform (Spotify, Amazon, PocketCasts, etc) took me about 30 seconds to set up. But creating an Apple account has turned into a days long support ticket MULTIPLE times for me.
What the actual fuck is wrong with Apple's account system?
