I have 2 kids below the age of 10 and I set up their emails like this
I created a gmail for them [email protected]
I used these gmail addresses to create their AppleID, during that process I created [email protected] (we don’t use those iCloud addresses anywhere)
We bought a domain name and I used custom domains to create [email protected] addresses for them. These are the email addresses they use and the mail goes to their iCloud inbox.
It all works ok. My only irritation is that they need to maintain 2 inboxes - their gmail one which only really gets emails from Apple about app purchases and their iCloud one which gets the most mail from their [email protected]
Am I missing something here? The custom domain is nice, they picked it, it’s memorable and they can have it their whole life. They will need to use the gmail one to stop it going inactive and also monitor it for any Google or Apple ID messages.
Any thoughts appreciated? Thanks
I have two child accounts on my iCloud Family account.
For one of them (the older) Custom Email Domain is working perfectly. For the new account I just created when I click "Manage" while logged into settings for the child account, all I get is a paragraph of text to sign up/learn more about iCloud+... as if iCloud+ isn't active.
Does anyone know a why or how to workaround it? Is something not setup right on the new child Account I created?
We have a family sharing account, and two kids who were set up with apple IDs when they were very young. I should have known better, but I created "cutesy" icloud.com email addresses for them. Now they're at an age where they can't have adult accounts yet, they would not want to lose access to their data, but the cutesy account names are slightly embarrassing to them, even if they aren't even communicating to anyone with them lol.
I can't for the life of me figure out how/if I can change the email address associated with their account. Is this even possible? It's very frustrating.
