r/CreateMod on Reddit: How to create effective categories in Stock Links?
January 10, 2026 -

Hi guys, I just built my very first storage system and I'm eager to start using it, but I ran into a problem trying to use categories on the stock link.

With chests, I usually have some labelled "stone", which contain all my stone blocks and their building variants like slabs and stairs. Then I also have one or two chests labelled "wood" which contain logs, planks, stairs, slabs, sticks, etc.

For my stock link, I'd really like to use similar categories. The only way to do so with filters that I know of is to manually specify each and every item in a regular filter, since I don't see anything on the attribute filter that could help with this.

Does anybody know if there's a quicker way to specify which items go in which category? If not, I'd love to know how you use categories, if you use them at all. Thanks!

Stock Tickers can’t have categories copied with clipboard · Issue #8239 · Creators-of-Create/Create
April 10, 2025 - Every filter compatible machine in the Create mod has support for using a clipboard to copy filters from one object to another. Because the stock link does not support copying filters they need to be copied separately before being manually inserted. Another fix could be a way to link the categories of Stock Tickers in a network.

r/stocks on Reddit: Data mapping tickers to sector / industry?
September 22, 2023 -

I've basically worn out my welcome at Google searching for any sort of free API or data set that maps stock ticker to sector/industry. Yes, I know that individual sites like Yahoo Finance display this information on a per-ticker basis, but I'm trying to pull down a "complete" data set that I can store locally and use without resorting to screen scraping individual pages. Ideally, there would be an easy way to refresh that data over time (e.g., monthly). I would think this would be relatively simple, but I can't seem to find this, other than scraping. Some of the obvious places (e.g., SEC EDGAR) don't seem to have this data, which surprised me. Any ideas? Am I overlooking something obvious? I'm OK doing some programming and synthesizing the result from multiple sources, if that's required. Thanks in advance.

I understand the challenge you're facing in finding a comprehensive and free API or dataset that maps stock tickers to their respective sectors or industries. It's a common hurdle for many, and while sites like Yahoo Finance do provide this information on a per-ticker basis, it can be tedious and impractical to scrape each page individually. However, I'm excited to share that we recently launched Dynamic Company Sector Classification (DCSC), which could be exactly what you're looking for. DCSC offers an advanced and dynamic approach to sector classification, enabling you to build watchlists for specific sectors, such as the energy sector . Our platform categorizes companies into four distinct levels, providing a detailed breakdown and allowing you to drill down into specific industries and sub-industries. Here's a quick overview of the key features: Comprehensive Sector Classification: DCSC divides sectors into four levels, ensuring you get granular insights into each industry's specifics. Sentiment Analysis: Track the sentiment across various sectors to make more informed decisions. News Integration: Stay updated with the latest news affecting different sectors, all in one place. Portfolio Classification: Classify and analyze topics using a portfolio screener. You can see an example of our sector classification here . For more information and to explore our offerings, visit dcsc.ai . DCSC not only solves the problem of mapping stock tickers to sectors, but also provides a wealth of additional tools to enhance your investment strategies. Feel free to check it out and see how it can simplify and enhance your data needs!
