Yeah I had the monstrous 40gb Creative Jukebox, had same gb as my desktop Dell. I get it out every now and then, still works. I did downsize to a Zen eventually, kept the Jukebox as a storage device but lost access to software for it so not sure if I would be able to add to or download from it now. seems so outdated compared to Spotify, lol edit:spelling More on reddit.com

I bought a new Creative Zen V Plus. It comes with an Installation CD. my laptop has no cd drive. At the Creative Zen site I find a 'firmware' download. Is this the same as the 'Installation' cd ? More on learn.microsoft.com

After mentioning that I had a Creative Zen Touch on another thread, it seems that people still have fond memories of these players. I absolutely adored mine. It was the underdog to the up-and-coming iPod. The battery lasted forever and it had a shuffle button right on the front that literally shuffled the entire library instantly. It took me years to have enough music to fill the ludicrously overkill capacity of 20GB. I moved on to a Zen Micro which had less storage but more features (radio I think?). That lasted a couple years. After that is when I went to the dark side and got myself an iPod touch.

Sore spot. I was angry at all of my fellow consumers for falling over themselves to spend more money on a device that gave you far less power over choice of file type. One day at Best Buy there is a variety of personal, digital music players, able to handle what ever you've got, and they have standard, upgradable storage. Next day, there are iPods, and a couple of Zens, and then woosh! All gone. Stupid, bovid customers and their relentless social insecurity. Because they sure as fuck weren't turning to Apple for superior specs at that time. It really was just a self-own.

April 13, 2005 - Charging is quick in about 3hrs, and battery life is stated as 12 hours although is a little lower in real life situations - I'm getting about 10-11 hours at the moment just playing MP3's, which is really good for a hard disk player. I think it kicks ass over the iPod. This player cost £149 from Dixons, but can be found much cheaper online if you care to shop around and wait for delivery. So, my recommendation is forget the iPod. Get Creative. Get the Zen Micro.

I believe you are referring to the Zen device, is that correct?
There are external CD-ROM which connected to USB, and you may read the CD.
In addition, you may connect the device to the PC and check for update and sometimes you could receive the application using Windows Update.
firmware is needed and you might need other application and programs and it is better to check with their support.

The touch pad is a little too sensitive, even on its' lowest adjustment, but that may be fixable with a firmware upgrade (?). I've had no trouble cramming a bunch of stuff onto it, using the new Creative software. Mine came with the extra battery and the whole feel of the player is QUALITY, with beautiful backlighting and screen font.
