Enacted in 2022, the Safe Sleep for Babies Act (SSBA) declares "crib bumpers" as "banned hazardous products" under section 8 of the Consumer Product Safety Act (15 U.S.C. § 2057), see 15 U.S.C. § 2057e.

The SSBA prohibits not only the sale of inclined sleepers for infants and crib bumpers, but also the manufacture for sale, distribution, or importation into the United States, of these products.
