I recently signed up for a local cricket league despite having never really played before. I currently play tennis semi-competitively and imagine that would help me out in regards to hand-eye coordination and movement, but was wondering what to expect or if there is anything I should be prepared for.

The way you hit a cricket ball is very different to the way you hit a tennis ball. Get a mate who knows what they are doing to take you to the nets one day and get a feel for it. Otherwise - don't expect too much!

The usual tips I give to new players are fairly simple: get yourself in the nets as much as you can before playing, let people there know you're picking the game up for the first time (as it'll tell them directly that you're new and to not expect too much), and just try to get bat on ball as much as you can in your first few sessions. Even if you look a bit silly, it helps in the long run You'll quickly find that hitting a cricket ball with a wooden bat is quite different to hitting a tennis ball with a racquet, so getting a feeling of what that's like early on will help your brain learn what the hands are feeling and where the cricket bat is relative to your body (which is also different from how you'd play a lot of tennis shots). You'll probably find in the process that those tennis skills will help a bit on cross-batted shots like the cut and pull as they're somewhat comparable to tennis shots and they're usually the easiest for new players too, but if there's any shot to try and practice early, it'll be the forward defensive, as so many shots are based off that shot's action. If you think a ball is heading towards the stumps, just try to block it with the bat. If it's not, throw the kitchen sink at it and have some fun!

I know nothing about the sport but I'm intrigued. It's obviously hugely popular in parts of the world.
I'm looking for a website (or websites) that can help familiarize a total newbie with the sport. Videos to illustrate rules, game play, etc. would probably be immensely helpful.
Thanks in advance!
