Long time Cricket user with $100 family plan. Two phones on plan are iPhones 13 Pros that were purchased from apple and brought to the network. Two of the phones were bought from cricket iPhone SE. the SEs are pretty much shot with no battery life. I see cricket is offering iPhone 11 for new customers for $99. But for existing customers to upgrade its $499. I understand they want new subs but they should reward longevity as well. I’d be willing to switch to new carrier even if it’s a little more expensive in order to get the phone upgrades. Any options out there?

You can always try amazon refurbished that’s usually a safe bet for “newish” devices at a discounted rate.

I was on the 5 lines for $100 plan for many years. When they killed it last year, I jumped to AT&T prepaid plan and actually saved a few bucks a month. However, the plan I chose is 5gb per line while Cricket was 10. Four of my family gets by with 5gb, but I had to bump one user up to the 15gb plan for an extra $10. Now I'm around $105 a month. Forget getting your phones from your carrier. Go to Swappa.com and get a nice used phone in good condition. I, for one, can't see ever spending over $250 on a cell phone.

Hello, everyone! 🤗 I was wondering how there phone upgrades work. Do existing customers get really good deals? (I heard they give poor deals ... ), how long does it take after you purchase an device for your eligibility to upgrade? (It shows upgrade ready in my app - even though I got my device on the 3rd - seems inaccurate?), and do I need to trade-in my current device to get a new phone one, and can upgrades happen online even though I opened up my account in-store?

Honestly, current/active subscribers are the ones that get shafted the most it seems. Most upgrades seem to require new lines/numbers to take advantage of. Case-in-point the Razr 2024 upgrade. If you port in your number, it's $49. If you add a line, it's $99. If you're upgrading, it's $299. Also, make sure you do as much ordering and activating online as you can. The other way they really get you is if you have to go into the store for anything.

Cricket is fine, but they do not offer their existing customers upgrade deals. It's actually a joke that they even suggest that they do. New customer's get the deals, and that's it. Doesn't really make me want to stay with them, when I can just take my number to any other prepaid providers. They don't care, so I don't care either lol
