A natural-looking break between shoe and pant in summer improves most looks imo. At least I like it on women. In winter or with long pants forcefully rolled up it’s mostly painful to look at ... buuuut shortened pants + high boots can sometimes create a super sophisticated elevated silhouette. With dress pants and dress shoes I generally wouldn’t do it. I just think the ankle free look is something summery-casual and should stay there. But perhaps that’s just me getting old/conservative for no reason. Overly broad and short pants are a fashion victim thing, there’s zero aesthetic appeal to it; especially in male silhouettes.
