After a loooong struggle to get the CRT look, I'm coming to a conclusion that if you want to be discerning and do it really convincingly, it might be just easier to buy a CRT and play the footage on CRT and record it with a camera. For real. I've been playing around with TVPixel (which you didnt mention on the list btw and is pretty essential if you are going for TV look in AE) + Signal + Deep glow + all kind of noise, distortion effects etc etc etc and I don't think it's possible to recreate the CRT look really well just with AE effects and plugins. The really nice and convincing ones are from ezco.t v packs but it's exactly what I said - CRT footage caught on camera... It might turn out that in the long run it's much less effort to do it that way than to fight with our perfect, digital matter...If anyone can see something d.one in digital only and wants to share I'm super happy to see it. Here's my "digital CRT" with pixel art (definitely work in progress). I'd say it's like halfway there to convince me it's a CRT. Still a ton of work, not to mention the motion aspect of it.
