You pay full price, unless there is a sale. But they have great customer service, are very knowledgeable and have extensive training.

Was there a point to this post or did some just piss in your cornflakes? Don't get me wrong I'm all for supporting local businesses, but a shop can be just as bad as anything else. Crutchfed has good information, from product overviews on YouTube to install documentation. The biggest thing they have going for them is what ever price it is of install accessories that they throw in. Sonic does it too I think but not as much.

There's a reason why every single "will this HU work in my car?" post is answered simply with "crutchfield.com". They're so ubiquitous that I don't think I've ever seen anyone suggest any site that could be considered an option. The only better one would be if someone has a local shop that is passionate about helping folks get the most out of car AV without screwing folks over, which is pretty much a unicorn.

Worked there for over a decade as a tech over the phones. The price is a bit higher in some cases, but you're paying for the experience. Virtually every car for decades has been pulled into the tech department and disassembled piece by piece and every detail documented. Also factor into the cost the free install kits/harnesses. The knowledge database is second to none, as is the customer service.

All of my experiences with Crutchfield have been great. As far as head units go, I always take into account the fact that they throw in the wiring harness and dash kit (as well as cheap shipping) if needed when comparing prices.

I've been having a minor but highly annoying problem with an NAD C658 preamp/streamer that I purchased from Crutchfield over a year ago. The unit is still under warranty, and the NAD website said to initiate a warranty claim thru the original retailer.
I call Crutchfield to do just that, and 5 minutes later they are shipping me a brand new unit, and sent me a return label to send the old unit back.
I thought I'd have to send it to a repair shop, wait 6 months to get it back, cobble together an interim solution so I could continue to listen to music in my office and I'm just thrilled that I don't have to do any of that.
Anyway, just wanted to pass along a great experience with one of the bigger online electronics retailers. It's 2022, almost 2023 and customer service like that is just such a rarity. And also such a treat when you experience it.

July 27, 2025 - At this point, I am really disappointed with Crutchfield. I ordered three items and paid almost $220 for overnight shipping. The next day, the only thing I received what they said of XLR cables. I did not receive the amp or preamp. Spending almost $6000 with a company, you think they would provide excellent service. And as of the current writing of this review, my product is still sitting in Virginia
