Dear Schackbo,
Good day! Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.
We went through the post carefully. We're afraid there is no build-in feature in Word Online to turn off Ctrl + click for hyperlinks. Apologize for the inconvenience.
If you want one-mouse click to open hyperlinks in Word Online, you may switch to Reading View by clicking View tab > Reading View, and hyperlinks will be clickable without needing to press Ctrl + click.
Personally I completely agree with you, it would be definitely ideal if we can add feature to turn off Ctrl + click for hyperlinks in Word Online as that in Word desktop version. This is a good addition to the current features of Word Online. Thank you for bring thing to our attention.
We sincerely recommend you vote for this similar idea in Word Feedback Community: Turn off Ctrl + click for hyperlink in Word Online · Community (microsoft.com) Our Product Team is in-charge of the site and they are constantly checking the comments and feedback from our customer. Many features have been developed and improved based on users' comment.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding! Hope you keep safe and healthy always.

Thanks Tina. I voted on this option as per your suggestion. Thanks so much for taking the time to respond.
Simple click doesn't work, and my software is already set to have Ctrl + Click open hyperlinks. If there are any other suggestions?
Thanks for following up. It's only in Word. I hadn't tested it in my other Office software, but I just checked in PowerPoint, and Ctrl + Click works as it should.
