This thing is barely 5 years old and the deck has had multiple failures (breaks, cracks, etc) and today’s new crack is the the end of the line. I don’t want another tractor style. Can anyone recommend a zero turn with a deck that doesn’t go to shit in a couple years?
I have just under 3 acres and there’s plenty of slopes, rocks, roots. I’m guessing a stamped metal deck is not for me. Is there a particular brand or model out there known for durability?

Talk with a dealer, not the chains, and ask. Most zero-turn mowers are good to 10 degree slopes, and riders are better to 15 degrees. A welded deck is a must. My criteria when I went to am Ariens Apex from my Cub LT1046 (engine and deck problems) were as follows: Local independent dealer Kawasaki engine Welded steel deck 6ga-10ga Servicable hydrostatic transaxels ( I wanted external reservoirs and filters) Warranty of 3 years or longer, preferably one that also carries a professional warranty. Largest deck you can get through gates and into your storage area.

Locate an independent Cub dealer, not a big box store, and see if they have one in their bone yard. As an 08 owner, I'm going to tell you that after 10 years, just about all of them look like that. If your main problem is the mounting holes for the spindles have rotted, both MTD and Amazon sell a replacement stiffener kit for around $35. Known problem, they only just addressed last year. Moving forward until now 2024, I just purchased a 2022 XT1 46" deck and I have the same issue! Grass all over the mower deck, my feet, and litterally packed everywhere under the tractor in the frame , steering gear engine compartment! What the hell? This my 3rd tractor and neither of my previous tractors had this issue. I always mulch and dont let the grass get to much more than an inch in growth between cutting! Pisses me off that I buy this nice looking tractor , then every time I cut my lawn, the tractor and deck is covered with minute grass clippings sometimes an inch thick with dust and dirt! The mower deck itself gets thick with clippings on the top all around the belts and pulleys. So, I had a look around the blade bearing housings on the deck, and there are big open spaces between the bearing housings and the deck! As in like maybe 9-10 square inches between the two housings in total! What are they there for? To let grass and dirt blast above the deck into the belt pulleys frame and steering gear? When I visit the Home Depot website, I notice the belt issue mentioned in the customer reviews for the 1045 and 1050 models. I believe the 1045 has the same deck. Additionally, there is a YouTube video demonstrating how to adjust one of the deck's pulleys to align it with the other pulley.

I have a 1999 Cub Cadet Z54 zero turn mower. As you can see from the picture, my mower deck looks like Swiss cheese. I have been searching Craigslist and Facebook marketplace trying to find a new/used one, but have had no luck.
Anyone have any ideas for where I can look to find one? Or perhaps a mower deck from another model that might work?

Just went through the same exact scenario with my 42” cub cadet deck. I ended up stripping it down to bare metal, grinded, patched, rust primered and re painted.
