Before you go any further, get starting fluid. If it starts with starting fluid, then the problem is fuel/carburetor/solenoid related. if it does not then the problem is spark/timing/ engine shit the bed.

You'd likely need to remove the solenoid on the bottom of the bowl. If you're trying to drain the bowl for off-season storage (a good idea, IMO), the simpler method to accomplish almost the same thing is to install a fuel shutoff valve between the tank and the carb. Start the engine, close the shutoff, and run the engine until it stalls. That will pretty much empty the carb. I keep stabilizer in my fuel year-round (I can only buy ethanol gas). That, plus running the carbs dry, has worked well for me, for off-season storage. More on reddit.com

The big black plug on the top of it? Take it off. Pliers, angle grinder, whatever you have that will get it off. You will no longer have a fuel shutoff at all, at least until you replace it, but it'll get your lawn mowed this weekend. More on reddit.com

Needing part 12-757-33-S and an O-ring for the carb bowl. When I google the part I’m seeing parts for around $100, and I’m seeing parts for around $12. Would love to save money but I need to cut my grass more. Does anyone have experience replacing engine parts with cheap versions? Only using the mower for my personal yard in the south eastern US.

When my fuel shutoff solenoid stopped working I was able to remove it, then removed the plunger. Cleaned up the plunger with crocus cloth and used a rifle barrel wire brush to clean inside the solenoid body, think it was a .22 size brush. Put it all back together and it is working fine over a year later. Most likely just some rust from using gas with ethanol which can be prevented by using ethanol free fuel and running the carb dry before long periods of not being used. This was also a Kohler engine.
