Hi all.
I have a Cub Cadet XT1 and am trying to drain the carburetor bowl.
The engine manual doesn't seem to make a mention of how to actually do it and I can find anything clear on YouTube.
Does anyone have any experience on this who wouldn't mind helping?

You'd likely need to remove the solenoid on the bottom of the bowl. If you're trying to drain the bowl for off-season storage (a good idea, IMO), the simpler method to accomplish almost the same thing is to install a fuel shutoff valve between the tank and the carb. Start the engine, close the shutoff, and run the engine until it stalls. That will pretty much empty the carb. I keep stabilizer in my fuel year-round (I can only buy ethanol gas). That, plus running the carbs dry, has worked well for me, for off-season storage.

Ok, Here you go. The bowl of the carburetor is held on by an electric fuel solenoid. That is the piece with the red and black wires plugged into it. Simply ta a thin wrench and unscrew that solenoid as if it was a plug. A good trick is to loosen it a turn or two and then rotate the bowl in place. This will allow the rubber gasket to come loose from the carb and bowl and keep it from tearing up. It also makes reassembly easier. Good luck

July 27, 2021 - I was going to rebuild it but when I went to the local Cub Cadet dealer to get the rebuild kit a new carb was only a little bit more than the kit I just got the new carb and was done with it. I have the old one and might take it apart and clean it and put it on the shelf. That being said.... see if you can find someone with a medium size ultrasonic cleaner. I have one at my shop and that is what I have been using on carburetors.

Help finding replacement carburetor
Hello I'm looking for a replacement carb for my lawn mower.
I have a 2018 Cub Cadet XT1 LT42. I bought this mower off Facebook marketplace, and the guy didn't disclose an issue where the carb is flooding the engine with gasoline. Went out to check the mower today and the carb emptied my gas tank.
I'm looking for one off of Amazon. Every time I look for one, it ends up not being compatible.
Again, I have a 2018 Cub Cadet XT1 LT42 with the Kohler 5400 series engine 18HP 541 cc KS540. The model number is 13AOA1CS056

I need to rebuild/replace my carb on my Cub Cadet as it started leaking gas. Looking at the various sites and kits, it seems a KH22-853-02s is what I need. Compared to other carb kits, most are around $30-$50 and the one I need is at minimum ~$130. What's the difference causing the price increase? I get that OEM parts are typically more but are there no other options? I see other Kohler kits for far less also.
