Hey all, about to do my first oil change (5 hrs break in) on my CC XT1, and was wondering if I should just use the kit they sell or if anyone can recommend a better oil? The kit is on sale for $35 with 2 quarts, fikter nad drain pan. What do yall recommend? Sorry for the newbie question, it's just my first mower. Thanks

DO NOT use any other oil filter than the Kohler OEM - it CAN void your warranty (i'm a Kohler engines dealer) if you use a junky Amazon bought filter, also use small engine oil with zinc and antiwear additives, 10W30 oil only, don't use automotive oil it will break down quicker and cause problems in the long run, an engine on a mower is air cooled it runs 10x more hot than your car.

May 9, 2018 - I’m pretty sure I have the same tractor which is the Cub Cadet XT1 LT46 and the model number is 13APA1CT009. My local tractor supply has some Cub Cadet drive system fluid plus synthetic blend oil for what I’m assuming is for that but when I go on Cub Cadets website, search for this very same oil and then enter my tractors model number under the part where it says it makes sure that said part will work with your equipment, it says this oil won’t work with it.
