My little 42in Ariens finally kicked the bucket after a decade. I've had 0 problems with it until now. Decided to replace it at this point.
I ordered a Cub Cadet LT46 mostly for the Kohler 7000 and the fact that Home Depot is my only option out here for delivery. I've read all the reviews I could find (mostly by people that have used it a few times).
Can anyone tell me are better or worse than the other choices from HD? I still have a few days to cancel it. I'm kinda freaked out ever since I learned they're owned by MTD. If delivery wasn't an issue I'd have probably got a Husqvarna. Any input from the experts or owners would be greatly appreciated.

9 year LT1046, 2 sets of head gaskets (Kohler Courage line), multiple spindles (poor design compared to John Deere). Cracked welds on deck, slipping transaxel, brocken pedal bushings, cracked seat welds. Watch this video. If HD is your only option, go with one of MTDs' other brands, either Troybuilt or Yardman, and save some money. Cub is only good on the upper end model that HD does not sell. https://youtu.be/3CKFI5chrDA My own choice would go with Deere, I am not a fan of these 100 series, but it beats Cub. I have 2 friends with similar age and size JDs, and neither has had the problems my Cub has had. If there are any independent dealers near you, most will price match, but more important is the prep they will do. I have the cub cadet you mentioned for a similar yard and I love it. I’ve had very few issues with it as long as I keep on top of maintenance. The only surprise issue we had was because of a surprise mouse nest we couldn’t see. More on reddit.com

Both my neighbors have this exact model and love it. I work on both, blade sharpening, oil changes etc… There’s nothing wrong with test driving it before you buy it. If there’s nothing wrong with it then the seller should be more than happy to do that. More on reddit.com

I looked at these two models about a year or so ago so take it with a grain of salt as they may have changed slightly. The two real changes I saw was that the husq has a higher grade rear differential than the cub and the husq had a solid leaf collector line where the cub looks to be that flex mess. I ordered the cub since at the time Home Depot was offering 0% financing for 24 months, however they dropped it off the pallet when delivering so I canceled and decide to keep on pushing. In the Long run it It would probably handle your inclines Better over the long haul the K58 is a entry level Garden tractor Transmission.
