If I adjust the linkage on the right hydrostat to speed the froward speed up it does not get as fast as the left side, but the reverse will hardly go then!!! The pto belt is in good shape and is tight and the drive belt to the hydrostatic transmissions is in good shape also. I'm at a loss as to what to do next! June 18, 2025 - It has a very tight turning radius, but with a zero turn you can throw one side in reverse and spin in place, with my cub the one tire just stops and will scuff the grass. Still a tighter turn than a lawn tractor but not a true zero turn. I’d prefer a Kawasaki engine but I think this generation of kohler engines is pretty good. Mine hasn’t had any problems.

I have a Z Force 48" fab deck. With only 75 hours on it, the dealer has had to adjust it three times. Time for another go. Inside of the hydro units, if you look in from the back, you'll see the control rods. If you have someone else move the sticks (NOT running, parking brake unlocked, wheels blocked) you will see the rod move an odd c shaped piece with a spring holding the tips of the c together.

May 23, 2010 - Not sure if Manuel works on Saturdays (kidding!), but a manual trans will not work on a zero-turn. Given it backs up normally, this could be a simple linkage issue. If a hydrostatic drive works perfectly in reverse, the internal mechanicals *should* be fine. Like OM says, lets start by determining what transaxles you've got.

February 27, 2011 - I don't know what would be causing jerkiness, assuming smooth and well controlled pedal inputs by the operator and with the engine running at full throttle, as is required procedure. If it's jerking up a grade with steady pedal pressure while traveling in a straight line, I'd be very nervous about it. My first thoughts would be belt slippage at least, or hydro problems at worst.
