December 15, 2024 - Obviously from everybody I asked this was the normal wear and tear on this cookware as it was not seemingly meant for 3 or 4 times a week use. Love my old Dutch oven and stew pot and skillets heavy cast iron forged before 1968 all of them 2 pots and 1 skillet were bought at estate sales and had to be cleaned and reseasoned but other than that they have been working horses in my kitchen.

Staub makes an excellent Dutch oven, but they are pretty pricey. If you want something to hand down to your children, I would stick with Le Creuset or Staub.

Depending on the size you're looking for, there are currently some decent sales for both Le Creuset and Staub Dutch ovens on the Williams-Sonoma and Le Creuset websites. Cuisinart would be my 3rd choice, if money is a strict consideration. Check Home Goods, T.J. Maxx or Marshalls for some very good (below $100) Dutch oven prices. Good luck. [Edit] America's Test Kitchen rated Cuisanart's D.O. as the recommended value D.O. if the LC was too steep for the budget.

So I am in the market for a ducth oven and after looking up things I came across America's test kitchen's post and to no surprise Le Creuset was the top choice
that however is a little out of my price range so when I saw their "best buy" I thought I would pull the trigger on that however searching their site it only shows 2 colors, and when looking for this item on amazon there is multiple items listed from a 3rd party seller for 40 dollars less than the one sold by amazon but Im curious are these counterfeit dutch ovens? I know that there are discontinued colors but i cannot find info on this anywhere online.
