Depending on the size you're looking for, there are currently some decent sales for both Le Creuset and Staub Dutch ovens on the Williams-Sonoma and Le Creuset websites. Cuisinart would be my 3rd choice, if money is a strict consideration. Check Home Goods, T.J. Maxx or Marshalls for some very good (below $100) Dutch oven prices. Good luck. [Edit] America's Test Kitchen rated Cuisanart's D.O. as the recommended value D.O. if the LC was too steep for the budget.

I really want to buy a dutch oven but there's no way I can afford the Le Cruset model. America's Test Kitchen says this is the next best option. Has anyone bought it and if so, do you recommend it. If not, is there another one you recommend? I'd like to stay around the $100 mark.

I got an 8 quart Martha Stewart Dutch oven from Macy’s about ten years ago. My wife made chicken soup in it tonight. I cook in it all the time. There is no significant wear at all. Enamel held up great. You cannot go wrong.

I have a le cruset and a lodge, and honestly use my lodge much more. I think it’s about $60-70 on Amazon! I use it often enough - I make any soup or stew in it, including when I make stock for the freezer, and anything braised or cooked long and slow (like beef stew, ragu, all day tomato sauce, etc.). I also use it for bread baking. I wouldn’t say it takes the place of my regular pots and pans, but I would certainly miss it if I didn’t have it!

Sometimes I’ll see something at a thrift shop that screams, “Help! I don’t belong here!” This was one of those items. Before I opened it, I expected to be let off the hook by finding a horribly chipped interior finish. Nope. Pristine. The only “issue” I can find is a chip in the outer enamel, at the bottom edge, the size of a point pen tip. Other than that, I can’t see any evidence this thing has even been used. Been wanting to try an a Dutch oven with an enameled finish, so I couldn’t pass this up for $16. I’m going to pull my raw cast iron 5qt Lodge out of the rotation and give this one a try for the foreseeable.
