Just signed up for the iCloud+ to take advantage of the custom email address. Couple of questions on how best to utilize it.
Currently all the associated email addresses that I created for my two domains show up and function with out issue in my iCloud email on the main iOS email application. Is there a way to essentially sort them into individual mailboxes? The current method seems well suited to having a single email address in the iCloud mailbox but having multiple makes keeping them organized a bit more difficult.
With my current domain handlers mailbox I have had issues with emails mainly being sent to gmail accounts getting kicked back. They had some steps to add additional DNS records to help out but every once in a while I still get emails kicked back. I am wondering if because this is all handled through Apple if it will be less problematic since it is a trusted source.

Yes you would just create email rules you can do this through the mail web or under apps > mail and sort them in to folders. This is going to depend on what domain provider you use, I use cloudflare so it is configured for me, so it added a DKIM/DMARC records.

After getting tired of my three spam filled gmail accounts, along with an increased interest in privacy, I've decided to work on getting a better email setup elsewhere using a custom domain and email aliases.
After doing a bit of research, I've landed on either Fastmail or iCloud+ as the options I'm considering. I already have a custom domain and am just trying to decide where to ultimately go.
My main goal is to use aliases for my different accounts and only give my actual email address (which has my real name in it) to personal friends and family. The aliases will make it easier to cut out spam or quickly change things up in the event of a breach for that one account.
With iCloud it looks like I'm limited to three email addresses with my custom domain and then I would use Hide My Email to create a new alias for each account.
Fastmail seems to do this very well and I especially like that I can create all of my aliases with my custom domain so I can take everything with me in the event I change providers or Fastmail shuts down. Unfortunately Fastmail also costs $50/yr and I figured it was worth looking at iCloud given I'm already paying for iCloud+.
I'm just curious to hear how people like iCloud+ for email. I know lots of people have transitioned over from other providers. How was it? Do you regret moving to iCloud, if so why? I'm especially interested in anybody who chose between iCloud and Fastmail, or even better has used both products.

Technically, you can have 3 aliases and also setup catch-all on iCloud+, with unlimited number of receive only addresses. If you're already used to Gmail, you can even setup iCloud+ with catch all and control it all through Gmail. Here is a tutorial how to do that: https://gist.github.com/GetVladimir/f26ecf553e62a2308fc446d0e426bdea As far as the experience using it, it's been fine. Haven't noticed any major issues. Junk email detection has improved and any spam email that is not caught by iCloud, is usually caught by Gmail, when setup as above.

I use iCloud, having migrated from Gmail. Ive had no issues and I’m happy with how it works. But the limitations are real. If you could ever foresee your needs exceeding those limitations, I’d suggest going with Fastmail now. I think you’re unlikely to regret going with Fastmail, but you might regret going with iCloud.
