Can anyone recommend a site where I can purchase waterproof custom patio furniture covers? Coverstore gets high marks for their products and customer service, but all of their covers state they are water resistant and not waterproof.
I bought of Amazon , rectangle shape Size: 146"D x 74"W x 37"H - there werent much option for this large size. Thought it was good it looked nice and fit perfect. But the first rain (weight on it caused it to tear like cheap paper). I'm thinking they just resale the temu special. During winter, another tear from snow. In hindsight I would say i've seen better tarps than this.
So where can I get a quality waterproof cover of higher quality that won't just "tear"
Edit: I bought the Ultima cover from coverstore.com based on recommendation in comment and it seems HIGH quality, much better than the amazon one but will see how it holds up after a year and longer. I'm also planning to purchase additional for my patio heaters, a chair, and a fire table because the quality looks so good

Anyone else struggling with finding outdoor furniture covers that actually fit? I’ve got a built-in BBQ island and some weird-shaped patio seating, and everything online seems to be baggy or useless after a season. I’m tired of spending a morning cleaning everything before I have guests over. Has anyone found a good way to get truly custom covers without paying insane prices or having someone come out to measure everything?
Hey BIFL gang, my husband and I have a lovely L-shaped outdoor couch on our deck that we custom made together, and the current rain cover we have for it is…terrible. Leaks, sags, has multiple rips that even ripstop tape can’t patch.
Any recs for quality patio furniture covers that actually withstand weather? It’s treated wood and outdoor cushions so we try to cover it up for rainstorms in the warmer months as well as all winter long for the snow. (I searched the sidebar and couldn’t find anything similar asked and answered.) Thanks!
It's getting annoying replacing all of my patio stuff covers. You know - made from plastic-backed nylon fabric used for covering your patio furniture, covering your grill, and also what patio umbrellas are made from. After a while it gets brittle and rips easily. I understand that these remain outside under the sun for most of the year, but isn't there something more durable.
I'll take 5-10 years to start.
Hey folks, can you recommend some tried & tested outdoor furniture cover brands which can tolerate our climate? Whatever I buy won't last more than a year. All covers I've used start to tear up mostly due to direct sunlight exposure. It's a roof garden, so storing in the saying is not really an option. Thanks.
Edit for clarification: I mean the actual covers to throw over the furniture to protect it from rain etc...
Sunbrella makes fade resistant fabric in many patterns and solid colors. It isn't cheap but I've made curtain ties from it that have been subject to window sun for years without fading. You can wipe it down but cannot wash it. Sunbrella has a thick, cotton-poly feeling surface.
try big duck canvas
It doesn't need to be waterproof, just water resistant, since the furniture is under a canopy. Any thoughts?
Hi, brand new homeowners here. We’ve never lived outside an apt. and now we have a lakefront home. I was gifted these seats for outside, but I had to bring them inside due to the rainy Florida summers. I know I can use some tarp to protect it, but is there something better... maybe something I can sit on to protect it from the rain? Thanks.
I’m having a lively debate with my wife on what ‘most’ people do with their patio furniture cushions. This is for spaces exposed to elements, not covered porches. Here are the 3 main options I can think of.
Always leave them out (including overnight)
Only put them out when in use and put them away immediately afterwards.
Leave them out except when weather forecast calls for rain.
Use covers when furniture not in use.
I’m in camp 3 but believe ‘most’ are in camp 2. This obviously assumes the cushions are mould proof/sunbrella type fabric.
You?

I have some large patio furniture cushions (24 x 22 x 5) that have been ruined by the weather. I want to recover them, but can't find much that is affordable. Any recommendations?
I did this a couple years back and learned that unless you have standard sized cushions, your best bet is DIY. There are some helpful you tube videos out there, but the gist of it was to wrap the cushion in the new fabric like giftwrap.
Check Aldi! I just got a set of high back chair cushions for $15 each. They normally cost at least $40 each.
IDK if this is the right spot to post. I have a nice outdoor furniture set. Last year, I got a collie puppy. She's now at this "adorable" 8-month age where she gets zoomies every five minutes. I covered my couches with twin fitted sheets and they are now brown from all of the mud. Is there anything else I should be using until she stops being insane? It's a crescent-shaped couch, so IDK if something fitted would work. All ideas are welcome.
I recently completed this outdoor table, built out of ipe and cedar and finished with penofin. I plan to leave it on my uncovered porch through the winter (located in Massachusetts). I know that UV and weather will cause significant damage, so I'd like to keep it covered for the months that it's not in use, but I'm not sure if keeping it covered would trap moisture and lead to mold or any other damage. I'd bring it inside, but it's incredibly heavy. Are there furniture covers that my fellow woodworkers can recommend?
ipe top, cedar legsMore of a random shower thought than anything but I talked to a couple of my friends and they either
A) Don’t care if their patio seats get wet/exposed to the elements
Or
B) They have no problem covering it up every time before rain
Or
C) Have no problem bringing the cushions in before rain.
In the case of A), I find my patio cushions get stained. I also worry about it fading/degrading. Am I the only one that gets occasional bird droppings and feel like it needs to be covered?
Am I being too lazy or crazy to find B and C too cumbersome?
I realized pretty much this whole summer I had my patio set covered and only used it a couple of times.
Thinking about getting a pergola for the fall/next season but can’t help but wonder if I am just being too lazy and B/C is something that I should just get used to. If I were to get separate covers for the couch and loveseat, maybe it gets easier since I don’t have to move furniture to put cover on and worry about pooling (or do those covers have pooling issues too?)
Want to hear from the folks of the internet. Am I missing something?
We recently ordered some polystyrene (faux wood) / aluminum outdoor furniture from Crate and Barrel (https://www.crateandbarrel.com/alfresco-ii-natural-lounge-chair-with-sunbrella-cushion/s484544?oc=48,1135).
The care instructions say "Furniture covers are NOT recommended . . . Do Not use furniture covers on polystyrene furniture."
Does anyone know why or have experience one way or the other? I can't imagine why furniture covers would be problematic, other than perhaps retaining moisture.
Because the care instructions also say to avoid direct sunlight, and I live in a relatively dry climate, I am thinking of going with furniture covers. But I would be interested in hearing about anyone's experience with this line of furniture or polystyrene furniture in general.
Thanks for any comments.
Hi there! I have a couch that I would like to have a custom, durable, cover for to protect against spills or pets. Does anyone have any recommendations for a seamster or seamstress that does custom covers for furniture?
I have been buying new furniture covers (literally to cover the outdoor grill set, or the club chairs) every year that do not last for longer than 1 year, and ultimately end up in the landfill.
It's incredibly wasteful and frustrating.
I've recently bought an industrial grade vinyl tarp and sewn covers out of that, and they started getting holes on them before I even put them on.
I'm curious to see what is the heaviest duty fabric people use for outdoor applications that would last at least multiple years. I'm not particularly looking for expensive designer fabrics that you'd use for outdoor upholstery, like Sunbrella. I'm sure those would be lovely but I'd rather get something that can withstand the elements than look good.
Another non-negotiable for me is the waterproofing.
As context, I'm located on the Northeast of US, Boston area.
thanks!
