These days most interviews are online rather than in-person. The call with the recruiter will be non-technical. They're mostly looking to validate that you're a real person, that you're legally allowed to work in the country, and that your educational trajectory makes it likely you'd be a good full-time candidate for the company in a year or two. Once you pass the recruiter screen, you should probably expect one or two technical interviews from actual engineers. It would be wise to expect at least one coding interview in a language of your choosing. Python is common for security folks. They'll also ask you about some non-coding security topics. The standards for these interviews unfortunately varies widely -- some folks expect you to know exactly the same acronyms they know and it can be kind of a BS knowledge test. More experienced interviewers will ask more high level questions and give you the space to use your own knowledge to fill in the content. But companies often put junior and less experienced interviewers on intern loops, so it's wise to expect a little bit of the "you need to know exactly what I know" tech interview silliness. There is going to be a long way to maybe get an internship and kind of weird way of getting an internship. Find a small nonprofit preferably who doesn't appear to have an technical person on staff or on the board. Start regularly volunteering for them for a couple of months to gain their trust then say that you are going to school for cyber security and you would be willing to help them in their technology and cyber security operations as a form of an internship. The problems you might face is that Nonprofit has an MSSP for their IT support. So the newer and the smaller nonprofit the better.
