Hello guys!
My Daikin heating & cooling system recently stopped working and the solid green light turned into a blinking green light. With some quick googling, I found a video on how to diagnose the HVAC system and find the fault code using the remote control.
After scrolling through the codes, there was a solid long beep on F3, indicating that that's the fault. According to https://www.daikin.com/products/ac/services/error_codes/pdf/sm-ts3_p1-6_errorcode.pdf, the F3 fault code indicates a "Malfunction of discharge pipe temperature".
After getting quotes from different HVAC repair businesses in my area, I quickly found out that the prices are in the hundreds of dollars just to come out and diagnose the problem. Then perhaps weeks for the parts to get in if there was a special parts needed.
Which brings me to the reddit /HVAC community. I was wondering if any of you guys know if there was a guide on how to fix the F3 error code myself, or if it's best for me to just shell out the hundred of dollars for a trained technician to come out and attempt to fix it.
Thank you in advance for your help!
The error is "Malfunction of discharge pipe temperature". We had someone come out to look at it and they said there was a refrigerant leak. They fixed the leak, refilled refrigerant and left.
Now 9 days later the same thing happens. It started putting out very little heat, then just gave up and shuts off and starts blinking.
I shut the power off to it and turned it back on and it's been working well for the past 48 hours. I asked them to come out to fix it, but no one is available till the 26th, three days from now and 5 days since I power cycled it.
So is it ok to continue using it if it's working well? And is this normal? I live in new england, the house we bought only had baseboard electric heat, and we spent a lot of money to install the heatpump to heat the whole house, and I'm feeling a little upset about the recent lack of reliability and no ones ability to get out to fix it on time.
