I will suggest that you pick a wallpaper sample (or a fabric - like a fun shower curtain) and make a mural. These bathrooms really need a statement and, as you’ve said you don’t think that wallpaper would do, I think a mural could be fun. Mimic the color composition of the fabric and get creative with it. Stripes? Different shapes? If you have a talented friend, have them help for sure! But if you aren’t an artist and want to go for it, painters tape, hairspray and patience are your friend (spray the tape edges and you’ll get a cleaner line). More on reddit.com

I desperately want to paint our living room an emerald green with black trim/door. Everyone is telling me that there is not enough natural light (there is one large window, nothing else) and that it is going to feel too dark. Personally I don't know how much I care about it feeling dark, but maybe I am being dumb about it. This is the general inspiration:
