Hi together,

I was playing For Honor and watching some movie on Netflix. Then I went afk for about 5 minutes. When I came back I had a blackscreen and my mainboard showed the error code 00 so I looked it up on the manual and it says "not used". That doesn't help me at all. Can anyone explain to me what code 00 means? And what I can do to prevent it?

Corrupted data is perpetuated by CMOS battery – Under certain circumstances, you can expect to see this error code if your CMOS battery is ‘remembering’ corrupted boot data in between restarts. To fix this problem, you need to take out the CMOS battery in order to drain the power capacitors of your motherboard. BIOS or UEFI data is causing instability – As it turns out, there are certain BIOS or UEFI settings that might cause this type of motherboard error. Sometimes this can be resolved by resetting your BIOS or UEFI setting back to their factory defaults. RAM inconsistency – According to some affected users, this problem can sometimes be caused by your RAM sticks if you’re using a dual-channel setup. If this scenario is applicable, swapping the slots in which the 2 sticks are inserted might fix the issue in your case. Instable Overclocking – If you overclocked the frequencies and voltages of your CPU, GPU or RAM, you can also expect this motherboard error to occur due to general system instability. In this case, you should reset your overclocked values back to their defaults and see if the issue is now fixed. Method 1: Resetting the CMOS Battery (if applicable) As it turns out, one of the most common reasons that might be causing the 00 Q error code is an inconsistency that’s perpetuated by the CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor) battery. Note: A wristband is optional but recommended since it will ground you to the frame and eliminate the risks of causing shorts due to static electricity by evening out the electrical energy propagated throughout your PC components. Once you’ve made sure that you’re using the proper safety precautions, take a look at your ASUS motherboard and locate your CMOS battery. It’s easy to recognize as it’s basically the same kind of battery you’ll find on analog watches. When you see it, use your fingernail or a non-conductive object to remove it from the slot. Method 2: Resetting BIOS / UEFI Settings (if applicable) If removing the CMOS battery didn’t fix the problem and you have access to your BIOS or UEFI, you might be able to fix the problem by resetting your UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) or BIOS (Basic Input / Output System) settings. If this problem is indeed related to a UEFI or BIOS setting, resetting everything back to their default values will fix the issue (as confirmed by a lot of affected users). IMPORTANT: You can only follow the instructions below if you get a signal to your monitor and you are able to access your BIOS or UEFI settings. But keep in mind that depending on the low-level type of software that you’re using, the instructions for resetting those settings will be different. I was using the same setting for two years without issues, oc with pbo and curve optimiser. I've just reset the oc settings to run it stock to see if it was the issue but it happens two times at a very different qxe atop one time I was just working on excel, second time when I was gaming.

I think all of Mobo manufacturers use 00 to show "CPU failure". Well, Atleast MSi and Asus does that.

I would tune PBO or CO, Problem should be fixed. Also CO generally make crashes on idle.

I have had this issue on z390 back in the day had a tiny bit of thermal paste on the bottom side of the cpu and my cooler was way to tight lossned it a bit 1/4 to half a screw turn on all 4 nuts and it won't away

So as the title says I have a x570 crosshair viii hero motherboard and I have a and r9 3900x. After using the computer it will randomly crash to black screens and the post code will change from 9E to 00… i belive 9E Is for tpm being on and being handed off to os. But I’m not sure why my motherboard is randomly crashing to black screen and without rebooting it hits post code 00 (I believe is no cpu). Full specs are ASUS x570 crosshair viii hero (Wi-Fi) Amd 3900x 32 gb trident x neo 3600mhz ram Rtx 2080 ti Corsair h150i pro water cooler And 2 Samsung nvme’s and a Samsung data ssd On windows 11 latest release (non beta)

Temps look fine before it crashes have monitoring software running on my stream deck. Don’t know what info is needed or where to get it from my computer to maybe figure out if a driver is freaking out.

I have a Hero with a 3800X that has worked perfectly for years but recently built a Dark Hero with a 5800X and I am getting random 00 qcode freezes. I have googled seemingly endlessly and tried many things that have worked for others in the past but all of the posts I found where at least 6 months old if not older. My issue is down a page from yesterday, no responses yet. My best guess is some kind of CPU stall due to under voltage but all solutions based on that have failed. Only way to fix is full power off. Thinking of getting a 5900X as it seemed mostly 5800Xs where seeing this problem.

Hi getting the same issue on the ROG Crosshair Viii. Have a 3080ti, 5900, 64gb 3600mhz ram. Getting the same issue of intermittent crashes to 00, and full system freezes. Have changed the PSU to remove that from the equation. Did you have any luck figuring out your issue?

July 19, 2022 - This memory is also not on the QVL (although Gskill had it on their QVL, Asus does not), but from what I understand this doesn't really matter once you go outside D.O.C.P/XMP anyway. My issue is a random hard-freeze that occurs under completely random scenarios, and seems to be a total crash of the mainboard management controller itself - the crash is so bad that even the reset and power buttons do not function, and the 1 fan controlled by the mainboard goes to max speed. QCODE is usually 00 or 02 and the MEM LED is solid orange.

I am at the latest Bios plus latest AMD chipset drivers from the ASUS site. I have googled this endlessly and the only 'fixes' I have seen are disabling Global CStates and setting CPU Idle to Typical, both of which I have done. I also added a plus 0.05 volt offset on the CPU voltage (just trying this last one but not real confident it's going to work). I am running XMP to set my memory at it's requested 3600 speed and 1.35 volts.

It has never froze under load, works like a champ, it's when near idle when I am doing random little things that it will freeze. Almost always it shows 00 in the QCode but always requires a power off.

I am considering paying up for a 5900X to try and solve this but then I am throwing away what I paid for the 5800X.

Anyone else seeing these issues? Any fixes that work?

EDIT: I think the setting below might have been causing my issues:

The correct value for 5 series is 5%, NOT 0%.

Hi there. I'm chiming in because I seem to have a similar experience with the Dark Hero and a 5900X. I previously had the Crosshair VIII Hero and had no issues like this. Since "upgrading" to the Dark Hero, it seems I've had issues randomly where I go to use it after sitting overnight and the system is frozen with no video output. I first thought it was having to do with some incompatibility with Windows 11 (I both switched to Windows 11 and upgraded to the Dark Hero around the same time so it was misleading), so I went back to Windows 10. I just experienced the same thing however. All of these are clean installs. I've replaced the video card, and storage. I've read trying to disable C states or upping DRAM voltage to 1.4 could be a workaround, but I'm unsure why I need to do this. My DRAM is G.SKILL F4-3600C16Q-32GTZRC and I'm running it with the DOCP profile at 3600MHz CL16-19-19-39 (as defined by G.SKILL) and I believe 1.35v. I think this kit is also on the compatibility list for the Dark Hero. My next steps were trying to either up the DRAM voltage to 1.4v, or drop back to 3200MHz temporarily and possibly run memtest86 overnight. The most annoying part is the issue isn't consistent. Sometimes it won't happen for a few days. Other times it might happen more than once a day. I'm wondering if you found anything else. I started researching this and may post on Asus's forums as well.

Hi I had a random shurdo with Q code 00 this morning and it happens that I've set the cpu utilisation to 0 instead of 90% of the power plan I'm using some custom one (ryzenszv4). Never hard issue with it before but I've seen it was putting the cpu usage on to 90% and I thought that was useless. I've put it back to 5%.did I fixed the issue for you?

I just finished connecting all the parts, click on the power button and nothing, code 00 stuck, i removed all ram sticks but 1, checked psu connectors, clicked on bios clear button. Nothing.

Check if ram is supported, you might need to update bios to use 24gb sticks of RAM. Check if you have pushed CPU power connectors to sit fully in. Remove the second CPU power connector.
