Yeah thats pretty decent temps. You see higher temps in benchmarks because it is synthetic workloads and higher stress than what gaming will ever induce. You get higher temps the more benchmarks you run because the cooler and air in the case is getting heatsoaked, which is also perfectly normal. You get higher temps with uncapped fps because your cpu is having to do more work to keep up with the gpu, which is actually what you want. You could add some more intake fans (1 or 2) but thatll make pretty small differences. Answer from imastrangeone on reddit.com

r/buildapc on Reddit: Dark Rock Pro 4 temps with 5800x3d?
May 18, 2023 -

Hello, I recently have noticed over the past few months my CPU is running hotter than usual. The idle temps seem to be around 37C-42C, but in Cinebench the temps are going up into the mid 80's at times and sometimes there is even a 1 second spike to 90C (this only happens if the case fans are set to low, if they are set to normal it may go up to 85-86C).

If I run a 10 min benchmark it will stay at about 78C, but the more benchmarks I run they tend to get close to the mid 80's.

While gaming I cap my FPS to a maximum of 116 frames for my Gsync display, but the CPU generally stays in the mid to high 60C's. But if I uncap everything it is around the mid 70's while gaming.

Overall are these temps normal for this cooler? I would hate to repaste the thermal paste since this cooler was the biggest pain to get on in the first place, but also I am not sure if that would help since the case is also a bequiet case, and it only has two fans in the front and one int he back.

The system/mobo temp seems to be around 33C. The GPU is also rather large in it since it is a 4090.

Just purchased a 5800x3d and love it! It does seems to run hot though and curious what everyone else's experiences have been. I get 40-45c at idle under a .5%-1.5% load. Most games play between 75c-85c but more demanding ones typically come in at 85-90c.

Using Furmark's CPU burner, the temp quickly (30sec) shoots up to 91c before throttling the cpu from 4400mhz to ~4000mhz. There it hovers at 90c. I know the purpose is to stress test and run at max, but I expected it to take a few minutes before reaching max temp and throttling.

I use a nzxt 510, and I know the thermals are bad but surely that can't be the whole answer, can it? Could this be evidence of an improper cooler install? The thing is facing the right way and the fans are working, so I'm wondering if I screwed up the thermal paste or something.

I just upgraded from a 2700x to the 5800x3d. I've got a Dark Rock Be Quiet air cooler on it and am getting temps of ~180f while gaming. There's another thread discussing coolers for this cpu and the general consensus seems to be either the Thermalright Peerless Assassin or the Noctua NH-D15. Are these in the same class as my Dark Rock? They look about the same.

Should I stick with my Dark Rock or do I need to look at water cooling? I'm not overclocking and I don't have much gaming pc experience with managing high temps. I'm know that this cpu "just runs hotter" but not sure what all that implies. I just use my rig for VR in IL-2 Sturmovik.

Thanks

Secured a 9800X3D chip today, the Thermalright Peerless and Phantom Spirit models are mostly sold out or at scalper prices right now. (USA)

I have a Dark Rock 4 Pro on my 5800X3D right now, I understand it is AM5 compatible.

Anyone know the thermal difference between the Phantom Spirit SE/Peerless vs Dark Rock 4 Pro? Will it be that much worse than a new Thermalright cooler?

I'm guessing it'll be fine?

I see some complaints on 7800X3Ds about bad temps with DR4Pro, my 5800X3D runs hot without PBO -30 all core, but I also have a poor cooling case. with PBO -30 I am 69C-85C depending on the game.

r/pcmasterrace on Reddit: is a dark rock 4 pro enough to cool an 5800x3d under full load?
June 30, 2023 -

as the title states i was trying my new pc benchmarking with cinebench and ran into what i belief to be thermal throtteling. My 5800x3d ran around 89c average and 120watts around 4200mhz. For cooling im using a dark rock pro 4 and 3 intake and 3 exhaust fans, so there should be enough airflow in my case. As far as i remember the cooler is tightly mounted and thermal paste is also applied correctly. So my question is did i do somethign wrong or is the dr4pro just to weak to cool an 5800x3d under full load. Checked all stats and temps with hwinfo.

Thanks in advance!

February 27, 2023 - I've had the 5800X3D since August of last year. I have no complaints with it. The regular Dark Rock 4 will be enough to cool as well. Dark Rock Pro 4 would be overkill, but will be even more silent if you went that route. I'm currently using the BeQuiet Pure Rock 2 and have another fan attached.

Will this cooler cut it without being very loud? I'm thinking of upgrading to 5700x3d if 5800x3d runs too hot. Keep in mind a new cooler will cost me extra 100$ in my country. It has to be silent. Would like to avoid that if I could get away with a cheaper cpu.

6950xt 16gb, 5800x3d, hyper 212 cooler master, 16gb 3600hz ram, b450 a pro max, 850w cooler master

Hi, I just got a 5800x3d today, upgraded from a 5600x. It absolutely pumps, but I think it might be getting too hot. I’m using a 212 hyper by cooler master as the cooler which was handling the 5600 pretty well.

CCD#0 is 94.5, which I think was just a jump that high not sustaining, not 100% sure Cpu is 89 which is high but not super high for a chip pulling 105 wats right?

This was gaming for 2 hours

Sorry about the bad photo I took it with my phone. Just want to know if these temps are normal, or if I should re paste and re mount? Thanks

November 11, 2023 - Looking at the Dark rock pro 5 spec sheet, I think its a 2cm longer than the 4. The DRP4 is a massive cooler already and capable of 250W cooling they state. ... Ive just got the RGB Peerless Assassing today for my birthday. Very pleased with it. Before using a AIO my 5800X3D was hitting 79c full load using Cinebench multi test.

February 1, 2023 - Fans like the Nh-d15, dark rock 4, etc should cool it quite well. I'm running it with a stock AMD Wraith Prism air cooler which came with my 3700x and it was was quite hot and reached 90c-91c while playing Resident Evil Village. But after I undervolted it using MSI's Kombo Strike 3 feature in the BIOS the temps are MUCH better. 74c right now with the game on (would probably be 80+ before) and max temp goes up to 88c which i think is better than it going over 90, even if its still quite hot.

Question - 5800X3D: What is the confirmed, recommended COOLING SOLUTION? | Tom's Hardware Forum
July 3, 2022 - Question: could I keep and use the Wraith Prism for the 5800X3D considering the high air flow and thermals in my case or can anyone CONFIRM an Air cooler or AIO that will keep thermals under control? Thank you, and sorry that I'm long winded...I don't know how to post short explanations! ... That top fan is probably just recycling/recirculating the warm/hot air that's naturally going to go to the top of the case. You should looking to a Be Quiet! Dark Rock 4 or a Dark Rock Pro 4, both of which are beefy coolers, provided you want to stick to air cooling only.
