My current kraken x62 won't fit in my case once I have upgraded to a bigger gpu, which is why I'm trying to switch the cooler with a be quiet dark rock 4, that was purchased way before am5 was even a thing. Is the cooler really compatible and can the dark rock 4 handle the ryzen 7800x3D TDP?

Hey there, PoE2 „inspired“ me to upgrade from AM4 to AM5 and therefore I would like to go for a Ryzen 7 9800x3d. Currently I’m using a Dark Rock Pro 4 and would like to know if someone has this setup in current use? I have a Dark Rock 4 Pro on my 5800X3D right now, I understand it is AM5 compatible.
Anyone know the thermal difference between the Phantom Spirit SE/Peerless vs Dark Rock 4 Pro? Will it be that much worse than a new Thermalright cooler?
I'm guessing it'll be fine?
I see some complaints on 7800X3Ds about bad temps with DR4Pro, my 5800X3D runs hot without PBO -30 all core, but I also have a poor cooling case. with PBO -30 I am 69C-85C depending on the game.
I bought a Ryzen 7 7800X3D a few days ago with the Be Quite Rock 4 pro and I get idle temperatures of 62-65 degrees and under cinebench up to 90 degrees is that normal? I have already reapplied the heat transfer paste twice suspecting that it could be but seems not to be
The dark rock 4 is a poor cooler for modern CPUs, it doesn't handle the highly concentrated CPU cores

Absolute temperature numbers are meaningless without knowing your ambient temperature.
My 7800x3D hits ~19k CB_R23 (https://i.imgur.com/A0AA7Yi.png) with ~80-85°C (ambient 27°C - its summer with no AC)
I use a Noctua D15 cooler, with AM5-offsetmount (only the south side of the IHS matters with AM5) and no paste but the Thermal Grizzly KryoSheet, so I dont have to deal with pumpout or dry paste - EVER.

I've re-seated the ventirad 3 times, redoing thermal paste everytime of course (twice with grizzly, once with Be Quiet! paste), and yet the temperatures are still bad/catastrophic.
Two questions:

what other cooling should I get for a quite closed casing (Seta Q1), knowing I'm living in a country it's going to be summer at (35°C+). Budget would be 200€ max.

I don't think the ventirad is pushed by ram, but it's real close (44mm height vs 46.4mm @DRP4)

BIOS is set to "EXPO II" and stable, I'm going to lower the PBO but that's not the issue here, I'm looking for a stable way to cool it down and figure what I did wrong, not how to hide it ;)

I believe this is the result of two separate phenomenons :

AMD 7000s run hotter than previous generations, they are designed to boost as long as possible until they reach their thermal limit (around 95°C). You can turn the ECO mode on if it troubles you, but this is essentially the way they are designed.

Unfortunately for you, the Dark Rock series of coolers are not efficient at all with AMD CPUs because they lack an offset mount; they focus on the center of the IHS, which is not the hottest part of current AMD CPUs.
Did you run these tests with the side panel removed? I would do that first to see if it's just the case that's impeding airflow, although from what I see in the picture, the top of the case seems to be relatively open so the CPU cooler will pull fresh air from there too.
I have a DRP4 and always found it to be a bit lackluster honestly, but I don't see how it wouldn't be able to cool that CPU unless the voltage is too high.
With a 200€ budget you could go for an AIO to brute force it.
Basically if Air Cooling is enough for the 7800X3D or should i go AIO?
Want to build myself a PC together but not quiet sure if the Dark Rock 4 will cool the CPU (ryzen 7 7800x3d) well enough so it doesn’t get to warm.
Its decent and it does have decently quiet fans so you can run them at higher speeds
Even a 36$ Thermalright Frost dual tower cooler would be enough
Yes. However I’d recommend any of Thermalright’s dual tower coolers (like the peerless assassin, phantom spirit, frost commander, etc). They have better cooling and are $35-50
Salut à tous, je viens de construire mon PC avec un 7800x3D et un Bequiet Dark Rock Pro 4 comme plus cool.
Je pensais qu'il aurait dû être capable de gérer facilement les thermiques de cette puce, mais lors de l'exécution du Cinebench R23, les températures maximales vont jusqu'à 85 ° C. PBO est allumé.
Toujours en dessous du tjmax, je suppose, mais je m'attendais à plus de cette glacière.
