As an international student with an ok application, do I have more chances in schools that recently became need-blind (Dartmouth and Bowdoin) compared to other t20s that are still need-aware?
a lot of the applicants to need-blind colleges are also intl students with average applications. International applicants with truly average applications are not getting into Dartmouth and Bowdoin. To calculate chances for an international applicant to a need blind school, take the overall acceptance rate and divide by 3. So, since Dartmouth's acceptance rate was 6.2% and Bowdoin was 9.1%, you're looking at the 2-3 percent range. The comparison to need aware schools is moot, since acceptance rates vary. But in general, international acceptance rate is about half the overall rate, with lower chances if needed FA and better chances if full pay. More on reddit.com
