I'm interested in breaking into this field, but I don't have formal training. I was in a quasi-data analytics job a decade ago-- basically I started creating reports/templates in my free time and ended up landing a position under the COO where I was the go-to for reports. I'm quite advanced in excel, and have used VBA to automate a lot of things (such as open files and pull data from data exports by IT, then use that data in my own analysis, or even simple stuff to help with office efficiencies like auto-sending emails or creating folders based on data) but my knowledge has a lot of holes in it. I haven't been in a data role in the past decade (I opened my own retail business, totally unrelated, and ended up selling it just this Feb-- it was successful but it was to move on) but now I find myself totally bored with my corporate job (turns out it's more of a glorified secretarial position vs. a data position).
I've been taking some online courses (power query, more advanced vba etc., looking at power BI next) but it's not a career path. I'm a little lost as to where to go next.
Are there entry level data analytics jobs that would allow me to learn on the job? I'd need a minimum of 55-60K as I'm a single parent.
Or is there a path I should pursue? I have a BA in French lit from 2004, which is probably the most useless area of study ever. I'm not sure I could really swing grad school unless I seriously dipped into savings, but it's not 100% out of the question.
Thanks!
Hey everyone, I’ve been looking into taking some data entry courses to spice up my resume and stumbled upon the Data Entry Institute and the course looks pretty good but I’m wondering if it actually is legit or if it’s a scam. The last thing I wanna do is waste my time and money on a course for it to be for nothing. Thank you for reading!
