I like data camp a lot and have been paying the discounted annual membership for years. You have to do your own projects and supplement with books to get a full spectrum to excel at work.

I finished about 350 DataCamp courses, so I'd be hypocritical if I said I didn't find it useful. It's great for getting surface level knowledge over a topic and learning the associated syntax. Especially if you need to get surface level knowledge for an upcoming project that you have no clue what you're getting into. If you don't apply what you learn, it will easily go in one ear out the other though. Don't expect the certificates to help you with finding a job outside of the knowledge you learn and showing that you have interest in learning more about your career outside of typical work conditions.

Honest Review of DataCamp Data Science Course: Worth It or Just Hype?
Well, in as much as I agree to some extent, but I think it really depends on where you're starting from. A beginner, especially from a non-technical background will have contrary opinion because they need a more guided environment to build the "I-can-do mentality". From a personal experience, if I had jumped straight into raw Python on my own, I probably would've dropped off after few attempts. That hand-holding phase helped me get comfortable enough to start exploring more open-ended, project-based stuff later. So yeah, it's true that it won’t make you job-ready on its own, but I don’t think that’s its goal. Such platforms are just a launchpad, and it’s up to the learner to go beyond it once they’re ready. Datacamp has very good courses tbh. But the thing is, all of the information taught on datacamp or on other learning platforms is available online for free, on youtube and blogs. So it can be useful if the price is not an issue to you, but you can also learn it all for free in other places. An advantage of datacamp is that it will give you a learning roadmap so that's one thing not to worry about. You also get a certificate or something if you think that will improve your resume. I find datacamp horrible. They focus on gamefying the whole learning process and it doesnt work for me. The lectures are bite sized to hell and dont allow for any real intuition to develop. The exercises are repetitive and boring. All you get out of it is typing practice. I am convinced nobody retains what they learn on this platform but it could just be me. For absolute beginners i think their projects can be more helpful. They are lightly guided and can help one stay on track instead of getting overwhelmed and lost. These can be downloaded for later use so thats a good thing. Not sure if other platforms have that feature now. Hopefully you can give it a try with some kind of trial period before putting any serious money down.

The curriculum doesn't look bad, but in 2024, there's so much free content available that can teach you the same things. Everything you get there, you will also get for free (and perhaps better) from youtube/coursera.
