Have you ever been to Austin? Both movies shot in Austin and Linklater is from here. I've lived here for your years now and never heard anyone speak in a thick southern accent. Austin is a liberal melting pot that's different from the rest of Texas in a lot of ways. Even outside of Austin the colloquialism isn't that different. Hard southern accent are rooted more in Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, etc. More on reddit.com

Earlier this week, Richard Linklater was a guest speaker at an event at The LBJ Auditorium at UT Austin where he mainly discussed the film Boyhood.
At the event, he stated how happy he is with the new film, which will probably be released this fall. He said he is pretty sure the film will be titled "Everybody Wants Some" after the Van Halen song of the same name.
The film will be a "Spiritual Sequel" to Dazed and Confused, and will follow characters during the last few days of summer leading up to the start of college in 1980.
I hadn't seen the title released before, so thought other Dazed and Confused fans might be interested.
